recently ive been looking for good headphones (no mic) bc my current turtle beaches are broken
and only audio comes out of L and the jack is glitchy
it cuts out sometimes and becomes bad quality
im no audiophiles but i know probably more than the average person
my budget is $200
i like the bose ae2, ath m50, senn hd 558 or 598, vmoda crossfade lp
i need some bumpy bass but if its just above average (the bass) its fine
comfort is a RLY BIG FACTOR in my headphones
i plan on wearing my headphones for several hours
i rly want no amp to be involved so 32 ohms is appreciated altho the senns are 50 ohm
if an amp is needed i want the cheapest of the cheap
thnx guys pls recommend some stuff and give an opinion on my choices
id prefer for the phones to be available on amazon or newegg
i dont rly need portability bc its just for my gaming rig
oh rite ill be listening to all genres of music (mostly pop, electronic, dubstep, BASSY)
id prefer light headphones bc theyre more comfy i guess
all recommendations are accepted and appreciated
responding to this would be awesome for me so
THNX GUYS

I wouldn't get the HD558 or 598 without an amp they both have impedences between 100-275 ohms between 30 and 110 hz. So their bass needs a lot more power than the rest of the frequencies. M50s work pretty great without an amp but see slight improvements with one. Can't speak for ae2 or lp2 other than the fact that they are mobile phones so they shouldn't have an ipedence issue,

the senns have 50 ohms i checked on the website so.....

Nominal impedence yes. But this (someone correct me if this is wrong) is their impedance at an arbitrary point. They actual impedance varies over different frequencies.
That graph shows actual impedance by frequency. As you can see the Sennheisers have a large spike in the lower frequencies.

If you like bassy music the M50 is probably for you at this price point unamped. Unless you want really bassy stuff then look at sony's XB line.

Sound-wise, the M50 seems to be the right one for him. But keep in mind that he takes comfort as a high priority, so the M50 is IMO out of the question.
I think the HD558 is great for OP, but he will have to pair it with a cheap amp like the FiiO E11 or E12. The E11 is about $60, but I think that's going to go over budget. If OP could stretch his budget just enough for an HD558 + E11, I think he'll be pretty happy with his purchase.

1) I agree here.
2) I have to disagree with you. I have the M50s now and can wear them for hours without issue and the newer ones are supposed to have slightly more comfortable pads.
3) This. I was going off him not wanting an amp but the 558 amped over 598 unamped (that's about the price comparison) would be quite a bit better. If you look at the FR they are about the same until you get to the treble but he seems to care more about the bass. Not that 558 treble would be bad :p

I have the m50x's, no complaints about comfort or sound, they have plenty of bass, but i run them through an 650 watt pioneer reciever with the bass at full :p
even plugged into my phone they sound great, you just have to turn the bass up in the programs, i am pretty sure you could find a program online where you
can adjust the bass. Even without this the bass is there and you can hear it, it just doesn't rattle your head :p

  1. is $60 too much for an amp?

2. if i need one which ones would u recommend
3. i saw on amazon that sometimes there are fake fiio retailers

1. Unless you really have no money, $60 for a headphone amp is cheap, but should be of good enough quality.

2. If you pick the HD558, you're gonna need one. I would probably recommend the FiiO E11 or E12, as I stated before.

3. Fake FiiO retailers will not be a problem if you know what you're looking for.
