Hey guys I am looking for some help with recommendations. I am looking to buy a pair of desktop speakers to use with my computer. I listen to mostly death metal music with these things, and do some gaming but that is not my main focus with these. Any recommendations? My budget is less than 200$. Thanks in advance!

You have a very limited budget for speakers. Both of those are excellent price/performance values, whereas a lot of speakers at those price points are pretty meh or are just bad. To me, good speakers are good speakers when it comes to different uses. If you have some particular sonic quality that you are looking for, you'd have to explain. You might also look up reviews and testimonials on those speakers if you want to learn more about them.

Specific sound curves are about personal individual listening preferences, not genre. Accurate speakers give the sound to you as the artist/audio producer intends.

Well wouldn't death metal favored a specific sound curve to get the experience the producer intended, I mean you would not wear beats to listen to death metal generally.

Right. You wouldn't wear beats because they are not neutral, accurate. Audio engineers mix on studio monitors which are fairly accurate.

" passive bookshelf speakers" what are those?

Passive means that they don't have an amp to power them, so you'll need a seperate amp.
"Bookshelf" is the form factor/size.
Amps in this price range:
Smsl sa50
Lepai lp 2020a+
