Hello. I'm hoping some good quality phones will improve my experience of electronic music such as psytrance and dubstep, it's a travesty to listen to such music on **** earphones, but that's all I've had so far. I've done a bit of research but I'm still pretty new to this and feeling very overwhelmed by choice.

I'm based in the UK and have a budget of £120 ($200)
I want to listen to music while out and about so would prefer to minimise sound leakage and have good noise isolation
I don't want to use an amp
I want the base to be good and detailed but not over the top
I want clarity and detail
I think I want a good soundstage although I realise that is difficult in an IEM

I'll mainly be listening to music on my Cowon X9 MP3 player

Recommendations so far have been for brands like Klipsch, Beyerdynamic, and Sure.

Any advice would be appreciated.

For a well balanced sound the dynamic Shure SE215 is likely the best all rounder, the detail could be better though.

Etymotic HF5 - balanced armature - great on detail, you'll need a good seal for that bass which will be tight but lower down in the mix. These stick out of the ears a bit.

Westone UM10 Pro - similar single BA but fits in the ear like a SE215. Sound roughly similar to HF5.

Musical Fidelity EB50 simply amazing and available for £99. or less now. Get them while you can as they're discontinued (why?)
