Recently, I have started taking several trips per week, mostly by air and I am looking for a pair of headphones with noise reduction close to Bose QC15 that sound better.. I just bought a pair of QC15 and a pair of Sony MDR ZX750BN to compare them.

The Sony's are really good, but sit too much "on ear" for my liking and is not as good at killing noise as the Bose. If i could find bigger replacement pads for the Sony's and maybe improve on the isolation, I think I could really like them.. They do sound very good even in apt-x Bluetooth.

The Bose is passable in sound quality. It's hard to really enjoy the music, but you can listen to it. I find the bass too much "one note" and some strange artifacts, but damn the noise cancellation is killer.

I have several good pair of IEM, but sometimes they just are not as comfortable for me as wearing a pair of over ears and I hate pulling them out and putting them back in my ears on flights...

At the moment, I am not going to keep the Bose as the Sony win with superior sound, but I'd sure like to get better sound isolation/canceling on them.

Any suggestions either for better sets or improving the isolation/fit of the Sony's?

Anyone know what larger ear pads might fit the Sony MDR ZX750BN?

I don't know about ear pads, but for good active noise cancellation and quite decent sound try the Audio Technica ATH ANC9.  My only quibble is that I would like them to fit into a smaller case.  Better sound and build quality than Bose; also you can listen to music when the battery is dead, unlike the Bose unit.

Thanks, I will do some research on the ATH-ANC9. Would be worth comparing. I sure hate to add yet another pair of headphones, but suspect these may get the most use of all the cans I own, so I want something really, really GOOD.
I own several flagships, yet sadly they just don't get that much use.
