You're in luck. Somebody on AudioAsylumTrader in Indiana is offering a pair of Dynaudio Audience 62 for $650:

That's probably cheaper than shipping your speakers to the US, no?

If you're still in the market, I'd also check out the PSB Imagine X line. PSB's presentation tend to be a bit on the warm side, which I think is a good match for classic rock and jazz.

I already happen to know from reading his previous posts that elmoe is a techno geek. I don't think he'd have any problem with REW. :)

Meanwhile, dual SVS subs is a completely impractical suggestion since it would take ALL of his budget.

Thanks guys, I'm leaving today so I'm lacking time but I will be sure to reread through this thread when I get there and my internet works.

I am kind of in the same situation. My budget is below $1500. I am still deciding between floor standing and bookshelf.

But, a friend of mine(very knowledgable)  did recommended PSB Image bookshelf speakers.

Hi guys,

Sorry I haven't posted back sooner, but unfortunately I paid more than expected for my car so buying speakers had to be cancelled for a while.

I am back on track with that now, and still actively looking. So far the Dynaudios posted above seem like the best bang for my buck. If at all possible, I would like to keep the speakers around 600usd/pair now, instead of the original 1000/pr as my budget has been considerably reduced.

Any new ideas around that price range?

Nevermind, I found a pair of locally made Solus SC6 bookshelves that are amazing :)
