I wouldn't say I'm really "new" to this world of wonderful sound, I've been lurking and doing research for some time. I've come here for many recommendations but finally got the courage up to join and really it's all thanks to a gifted pair of Grado SR-60i (sans headband, replaced by an Auvio) and another gifted pair of Sony MDR-V6 (with a now corrected short on the right cup).
I've been peeking around at the world of higher end headphones since I managed to pick up a pair of Sennheiser HD202 a couple years ago. (I'd also looked at the world of hi-fi speakers but got overwhelmed and as a college student, couldn't really afford the space, let alone the price.)
A year ago I turned to the massive IEM review thread in search of something new and picked up a pair of Etymotic MC5 and should I ever need another pair of IEMs, I will return to that thread again. (I can't say I was pleased with them immediately, it had to sink in. I had to adjust to a more neutral sound, coming from the likes of SkullCandy, but I can say they are a great little pair that I hope will continue to serve me well.)
Knowing about all of the tricks and mods that come from here, and all the wonderful advice and insight that can be given, I turn to you again. Some of those old threads can be quite overwhelming, though.
I suppose the best way to start is to ask where I am better off asking (seemingly stupid) questions?
I look forward to learning everything I can.
