Headphones produce sound so if your cable signal is being altered then any and all headphones will show the change. When your cable rubs against anything then there will probably be movement at the connection if it's a loose connections. That also makes sense why it's always the same side and on all cables. I'm guessing the connector on the headphone might be faulty whether it be your fault or manufacturer defect.

Perhaps Zach will add additional mechanical dampening at the connectors entrance in a future iteration for people in your specific situation, but that is for him to decide.

I'm willing to do anything to help anyone, but to solve any issue I have to replicate the exact environment, personnel, situation and gear so that the issue can be duplicated.  I have not been able to do that in this case, and a refund has been offered.

I'll try a direct connection cable, as I have the same wire that Zach uses from DHC, that would eliminate the connector, or a manufacturer defect!

I agree. I probably didn't word that paragraph exactly how I was thinking it. This issue seems to be an isolated one, and as you mentioned hasn't been a reproducible one.

These have been on my radar for sometime. Still looking forward to getting these on my head at coming meets.

Finally getting a grip on this headphone now(blackwood). I think some of my impressions were a bit outside of the benefit of spending a lot of time with them but that is why they are... first impressions.

Can't wait to read more impressions of them. The short story is that they are a really clean and clear sounding headphone. The midrange has bloomed a bit more after some hours.

Unfortunately I don't have too much time to spend with them right now due to finals. I'll definitely update my first impressions later.

The pilot pad's much more comfortable but can get a little warm. Looks, I can see going either way.

My thoughts on the Blackwood after listening to it for two weeks:

I've done quite a lot of listening now, and I'd say that, for me, the Blackwood is BETTER than the Vibro in EVERY way! I am happily surprised!

Let me count the ways:

1.) Extended highs, but not overly bright.
2,) Noticeably wider sound stage.
3.) Instrument separation in complex passages very MUCH better.
4.) No upper bass hump muddying the midrange. Yay!
5.) Deeper low end... tighter and very smooth.
6.) Very smooth overall, yet exciting and dynamic when the music demands.
7.) Even these Alpha Pads are more comfortable for me, having a slightly larger opening than my older ones.

So with traditional audiophile reserve, I'll say... I may like them! LOL  (BTW: I don't agree with most of the Blackwood nitpickers on head-fi.)

I am driving the Blackwood from the speaker terminals of the Parasound Zamp3; using the Asgard 2 as a pre-amp; my signal source is a Parasound Zcd player.

IMHO, Zach has done an INCREDIBLE job with these!
