Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7

I'm kind of going back and forth between these and the ZMF Vibro currently.  I keep telling myself I really don't need a closed can, and if I get one I should get something nice and portable...  but...  man this is a vile hobby.  A deliciously vile hobby.

They have just turned up on the SONY Australia site :)
Not as bad as I thought.
http://www.sony.com.au/product/mdr-z7
$800au

They also have the 1A
http://www.sony.com.au/product/mdr-1a
$350

Not too keen on the price bump over the 1R.

I tried ordering these on priceJapan.com but when I go to send the money on my PayPal app when I go to click send money it goes back to the review page and says that the info@pricejapan.com is "unknown contact"

Now the wait lol. This part stinks

Congratulations though. Pretty exciting. Hope the shipping costs were not murderous. How are you going to use them? Travel or mainly home use or even both?

Just got back from RMAF the Sony Z7 Friday night is a no show and the several Sony people I talked to have no idea when it will become available in US.  I was able the hear the Sony MDR-1A but that is all SONY offered at the RMAF, Friday. I had  a good time checking out other headphones including obravo the HE560, HD700 and others. I canceled my Amazon order on the Z7.

I will be using them at home. I do not have a portable rig but possibly getting the Sony portable amp for the z7 in the future.

Yes ...try not to make me jealous!

I honestly think you missed out on the HE-560 for not trying it with the Focus Pads A, and not having a smooth, dark-ish DAC with good bass impact to pair with the Yulong A28!

"HE-500 with a massive soundstage" is basically how I'd describe the HE-560 in such a configuration.

I can almost guess that the Z7 wouldn't sound so airy/spacious, but that it may edge out the HE-560 slightly with regards to bass. The HE-560 is a very very good headphone already.

Already worrying about my decision lol. I just finally had the money and the he-560 price would have meant saving longer. At this price, even if it's not my perfect headphone, I will probably be able to reason with it and hopefully enjoy it as long as there's enough space for any obnoxious peaks to breath and not scratch out my ears. Looking forward to some snuggle time with the couch and some nice acoustic, vocal and instrumental music tickling my ears before bed time with a nice headphone imaging experience. I personally enjoy a good dark background headphone because it really helps you escape when all the lights are off and your eyes are closed.

I liked the he560 a lot and thought it keepable headphone. I just figured the only way I could get more ideal sound and the bass etc I want is to buy some desktop monitors.

These being said to have a speaker sound intrigues me.
