It still lacks the cover (black ; 8 mm thick ) for the CE certificate.

Hello

For information, the latest amplifier AudioValve Luminare incorporates the step-up voltage transformers of the Verto box and an integrated Impedancer (32 Ohms) with the OTL RKV II amplifier, in a single box.

It will be presented to the public in Germany  20-21 March 2015 (see below); It will be compared to other amplifiers, including with the BHSE of Cucera.

So now, one can get all of AudioValve's fail in one compact box !

How cool is that ?

Yes!

This is made possible by placing the toroidal power transformer on the face back and outside of the amplifier; it is not visible (seen from the front) and it brings only benefits (more space inside the amp; less interference with the PCB)

And there was me thinking this thread had died, but no it was just in hibernation and awoken by Eric.

So Eric, since you've been advertising, sorry posting about this gear on head-fi, do you know how many have been sold.

I've tried the Luminare with SR-009 at my local dealer earlier this week and the demo model at the store has the gain set at very low.
I had to crank up the volume to no. 9 to get to my normal listening level.
I feedback to my dealer and he agreed with me that those that have auditioned the Luminare with the Stax phones also told him the same thing.
He told me that he will check with AudioValve how to configure the jumper/board to change to high gain for Stax.

Hello, the gain of the Luminare amp in Stax mode is 50 dB (x316).

With a source (DAC) outgoing 2.8 Volt RMS (maximum), the output signal of the amplifier is theoretically 2.8 V x 316 = 880 volts RMS (maximum).

In practice, the Luminare can output to 600 Vrms (1700 Vpp), which corresponds to a peak level of 116.5 dB SPL with headphones Stax SR-009 (sensitivity 101 dB / 100 Vrms / 1 KHz).

With my dac Audiomat outgoing 2.8 Vrms, the volume control of my Luminare amp is located between 4 and 5 (of 10) for a normal listening level and a CD recorded at a normal level (not low). All my CDs are usable for listening to a normal level to high, even very strong.

For comparison, the gain of the BHSE is 54 dB (500x), only 4 dB more than the Luminare amp.
