What's the best way to go about this? Would I just use a double sided 3.5mm male plug? Or do I need to use a Lightning to 30-pin adapter to a FiiO L3 or L9 to the E11? Is there any downside to just using the double sided 3.5mm male solution?

Really about the only way to connect an iPhone 5 to a FiiO E11 is with the 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male cable.
