which pair would you say are more fun to listen to? i have a set of modded ms1i's (blue tac, felt lined, holes punched, taped bowls) but i'd like to have something alittle more comfy but has more bass not like beats or anything something thats there and more pronounced than say my grados. these will be worn at home for casual things like listening to movies, youtube, music, games. music tastes is very eclectic i like country, classic rock, pop, synth pop, metal, electronic (not really into dubstep more like daft punk sound) i know the 558's probably have more detail and more comfy but it worries me that the bass will be about the same as my modded grados. anyways any help is appreciated.

Hi,

You should read about:

1- Logitech UE6000
http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/surprisingly-good-logitec-ue6000-and-ue9000

2- Don Scorpio Dolphin.

3- If you want open back headphones with strong bass you should consider Yamaha HPH-200

Best Luck!

I have both the CAL!2 and the HD598, I find the CAL! 2 to be bassy and the soundstage is really good for a closed can but the HD598 has the better soundstage. the only problem I have with CAL! 2 is that the treble isn't sparkly...

HD598 has a massive soundstage with adequate bass and is more balanced overall.

I find the CAL!2 to be superior comfort wise.

so if you had to choose one of the headphones which would you say? i know if i got the 558 i'd take the foam out of the inside and basically have the 598 but people say that takes away some of the bass. just say i'm listening to electronic/synth type music daft punk, la roux, electric youth or some house music stuff which has the better bass?

DT880 Pro are superior headphones. I'm pretty sure they don't provide as much bass as CALs but they provide more bass than HD598.
On the other hand DT990 have powerful and expansive bass.

Both DT880 and DT990 Need powerful amplification to show their potential. In my experience even a Fiio E07K won't make them shine.

  what about a fiio e10 for dt880?

Fiio E10 is very similar to Fiio E07K.
I think the new version, Fiio E10K, is already available. I haven't tried it yet.

If you can save up for a Schiit Magni or an O2 Amp, I guess you won't regret, DT880s are very good headphones that deserve good amplification.

That said, you can get very good sound quality using DT880s with a Fiio E10 (Desktop Dac/Amp). In the future you can get a better Amp and use your E10 only as a DAC (to feed the more powerful Amp)

The  CAL! is very light and has very good bass personally the bass of CAL! is better to me than M50 or CAL!2(too boomy). But since you are comparing it to senns I would recommend for Logitech 6000 too. It's like best of both.

Sent 558 is very bass light (given your purposes) they are mids centric with a decent soundstage and clear tonality. The cal hits way way harder and has good treble as well, much MUCH more fun headphone to listen to. The 558 is the "better" headphone in terms of technicalities, but the CAL holds its own on that front and comfort edge it's close, CALs have small ish earpads which gives me fits sometimes. UE6000 is, like someone said, the best of both worlds.
