Putting the Altone through it's paces tonight with DX90 and Tralucent T1.

Losing a touch of refinement at higher volumes, the mids can sound a little lacking in the lower regions with vocals though the amount of detail and sepration coming from the source and earphone combined is quite astounding. Edging out past what my Rhapsodio hybrid can accomplish.

Oh, and with this song...... =) (in FLAC)

Need to put a damn rubber band around the DX90 so I can pick them apart. (seriously)

Without booting them or checking behind the silicon case (backplate) there's no other you can tell between DX50.

Anyway, for all those who want a good source for Altone I still stand by Sansa Clip or Zip with rockbox, Some of the best synergies I have heard, good UI, no messing around great sound....cheap as chips.

I know this is off Altone topic, but how do you feel about the 90 by itself vs. the 50 w/JDS amp?  Just curious.

So I have Altone for few days, put over 70 hours of burn in on them and still I'm not sure if I have alright model or bassless one. I compared them to my other IEMs. Compared to Noble 4, Altone has more impact, but overall quantity of bass doesnt seem to be much more bigger. My pair or Tenore has significantly more bass than Altone.

What do you think?

More bass with my Altones vs. my Tenores.

I'll tell you about via PM mate.

Though a good paragraph to keep on topic would be because Altone200 is already clear and high in clarity using sources like DX90 / Tralucent T1 that tend to Increase those areas even more so can make it quite lean and long term tiring, Sure it sounds very very good but DX90 imo is rather aggressive in detail so something smoother for Altone200 works well. For example atm I've dropped back to Sony F806 Walkman and they're just right and still as enjoyable. Plus much more portable.

Announced nearly 10 years ago, I have been trying unsuccessfully a replacement, but I see that I will only getting a custom. Hybrid Monster bass, please come back.
So I asked an expert;

"My question is, Altone200 can say that it is a substitute for good old SF 5EB? I loved the bass of them, please tell me Altone200 that is better or equal to SF 5EB"

ljokerl Sorry, nope. There are no rivals to the bass quantity of the SF5EB among the hybrids I’ve heard. The XBA-H3 is closest in bass emphasis but still not as much of a monster.

Been too busy to give a short comparison between the h300 and Altone200.

IMO, the mids and highes are very similar with the 2 unit. The biggest difference between the 2 would probably be the bass. The bass on the H300 is BIGGER and STRONGER...

The bigger and stronger can be both a good thing or bad. Because of the stronger bass, it feels like the bass are closer to your ears than the mids and highes. So they kinda push the mids and highes back a bit from your ears. On the other hand, even though the bass on the Altone200 is not as strong, the quality of the bass is actually quite good. Punchy and impactful. Imagine being punched with a bare fist (Altone200) comparing to being punched with a boxing glove (h300).

Due to the less dominating bass, the mids and highes feels more on the same level as the bass on with the Altone200. H300 also have a slightly warmer sound signature than the Altone200.

Overall, they are both very detailed IEMs thanks to the 2 BA drivers; but with some differences in the bass. With the Altone200, I would describe it's signature as an "I" shaped signature, whereas on the other hand for the h300, the signature is more of an "L" shape.

Atm, I'm preferring more to the alight warmer and bassier sound of the h300. However, I also enjoy the slight colder and less bass dominating soud of the Altone200.

With their price at below 150 USD, I've never regretted buying the Altone200. It's definitely one of the favourite IEMs I own atm and I'll highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for a good pair of IEMs with top performance to price ratio.

Yes, it's kind of wild that great synergy and sound can be had with the cheopo clip zip. I really love my kc06's off of it.

I keep trying to tell people but they think I'm crazy. I was running Altone from DX50 headphone out earlier tonight and they sounded congested with a narrow stage (but still good). Put them with the sansa units they sound crystal clear and transparent. (much better than DX50) yes that's right, despite the ibasso super specs and high price.

I don't always recommend clip or zip, but when I do I listen to Altone. ;)
