Im also a swedish customer getting a pair of glued fidelio X2 from the store called "webhallen". Ive been heard that its a 50/50 to get a glued pair because the X2 are from 2 different places and thats why but im not sure. Ive bought it from a legit store and il be contacting them when im back from norway.

I gave up reading reviews and looking at graphs and just tried many instead.

I went from HD650 > X2 > 400i

400i is the only one that gave me personally the wow factor. I don't want to listen to anything else as my wallet can't handle it!

Well, I'm with you there - the 400i is basically my endgame for the foreseeable future, they're excellent. However I love the X2s as well, and I switch back and forth between them quite a lot.

Never said that the are defected, only what ive heard from other.. Do u know why they glued? And yeah, they still sound great!

Philips decided to put som glue on the pigs, probably when they realized that they didn't have enough spare pads to sell (just a theory of mine).

Any way, I'm looking for buying a new amp/dac..what combo works great with x2?

It can be the future with the bass boost.. When turning it on it gives it a bit to much bass but in my personal preference i like the boost and when turning it off it basically has no bass at all... I like it but som peopöe maybe wont..if the Fiio is not ur choice take a look at SMSL otherwhise i like the Fiio with the X2

FYI, I bought mine on "Elgiganten" and they're still on sale (for cheaper than "webbhallen"). But the box says Gibson International Limited. I haven't cared to look if the earpads are glued, but they are perfect physically, no imperfections or whatever everyone is talking about.

There's a theory out there that there are X2s out there with different sound signatures. My sample size is only two, but both sounded VERY different, especially the bass.  I'm VERY happy with my current pair, even though the pads are glued.  Listening to them is a joy.

Damn, why is that? How could that be? Aren't they using same drivers? I'm not sure if it's wrong on my headphones (being extra bassy) or something wrong about me (being a treble-head that also has gotten used to the "fake" high-mids emphasis on my M50's). I'm not sure if I can return them so I hope everything's okay with my sweet little pair.

There is no such theory. To be sure, demo the X2 at several stores and debunk the theory yourself.

"The bass is just so unnatural and liberally applied in a hamfisted manner"

Amazing, I bought the X2s due to the just-right bass emphasis, smooth mid, and detailed highs. There's another thread of posts that details try X2 vs the 400i.

Goes to show you: to each his own view. I guess it's what fuels this forum.

It's unnatural bass. "Fun" for some mixes, bloated for others. The low end is about as natural as the high end of the m50. Neither are natural, simply they belong in the "fun" category.

Emphasized doesn't mean unnatural IMO, why more specifically do you think the bass is unnatural?

That's a good idea, but I believe you.

Update: I tried my M50's again after listening to these, and wow, the soundstage really sounds small in comparison (strangely in both a good and bad way), but it also sounded like "cold shower" of (fake or not) clarity and more high-mids in comparison. I am beginning to appreciate the sound of my X2's more and more. Wow how much better and real vocals sounds on these.
