The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

I have a low quality webcam on my laptop. But I don't know the first thing about what to do with the bass paper test. I need to be walked through it step by step.

Basically EQ the bass up as high as you can without distorting, then crank it thru your amp as loud as possible while there is no distortion or otherwise blown out sound.

Aside from that, a piece of printer paper is all you need. Before doing my first paper test video I went through about 6  vids of Hawaiibadboy's channel to see how the pads were set up on the paper. copied that and worked just fine for me =)

if vapman can do it (inside joke) you can do it.

check out the videos on the first page basically thats how its done.

just make sure you get a seal with the paper and cup, its important. this is where all the energy will transfer to the paper.

when you have everything ready, get out a camera phone and record. youtube is pretty straight forward on how to load a video, you have to make an account though.

tracks, you can use "on my level" or bass mekaniks "bass competition"

So a low pass filter of 250 Hz, with everything boosted equally? Or what?

If it's louder than I would listen to, how can I tell for sure whether there is distortion?

Anyway, the MT220 would not be ranked in the first post unless it was tested by others either way.

Guess I'll take a look at the videos soon.

I don't have a camera phone and don't even use phones. I might use my laptop webcam. I don't feel like going out and buying stuff I normally wouldn't even use.

Thanks for the test track recs.

You'll know if there's distortion, because even if the headphone cups are a few inches from your ears, you'll hear if it's just very loud or if its blowing out. If you're not sure, and not hearing any bad buzzing, it's probably not distorting. It's more obvious than it might seem when they start distorting because you hear a loud nasty buzzing.

It wont damage your headphones unless you leave it sitting like that for hours. :)

You can rip off my eq settings...

Okay, thanks.

Why would I use your SZ2000 EQ settings? The MT220 doesn't need upper frequency EQ nearly as badly as the SZ2000. And this is just for a bass test, so I figured I'd only boost the bass. Would the low pass filter I suggested be suitable?

You don't have to use my config as is but it's a time tested basshead EQ.

I understand your point about the low pass filter but nobody here as tried that yet. I don't see why it wouldn't work, just nobody has done that before. I think if you try and and it works, no reason not to. But, if you're not getting any paper movement, maybe try releasing the rest of the freq range.

Hey, I'm back again!

I've been working on my EQ since I've last been in touch and it has changed a LOT. It's a lot more versatile, in such a way that most of the time, you're not even going to notice that the headphone has insanely boosted bass unless it's meant to. It's much more well rounded but will still blow you away at the right moments. It also takes a lot less power to get to listening volume.

(I'm a very practical person and only get stuff I need or badly want.)

 Me too!
unfortunately a metric ton of **** falls into the badly want section so I'm toast...... ....but I am practical.

I owned the Yammy you have and liked them. I got them because Grizzlybeast (think that's his name) spoke highly of them. I cranked them up for a bass test and they screamed. Was very hard to pull down the treble enough to do video that would show anything and not blast noise at the camera. The Pro 500 also have a hell of a time doing vids without jet engine dB's flying out em'. Like Yammy a lot though.

Only thing I can say is floor all the freq's beyond 250. Don't need them for a bass test. Jack the bass and floor the rest.

You only used the stock pads, right? My comments are with the Brainwavz sheepskin leather pads, which change it for the worse for audiophile use, but for the better for extreme bass.

Okay, cool.

I see the pro500 yammies on the list, so these mt220 just fall out? Something like a 10-15 range?

I suspect the testing is not very thorough. As I mentioned, in my case, the MT220 with Brainwavz sheepskin leather pads beat the #2 headphone on the list.

Well, you know how we do on here

Paper test

Then HBB will have to grab another set and test with the sheeps.

I'm not bashing your statements, but the UFO pro Plus (which also should have made the list) didn't exactly move paper. But it does sound BASSY. I think it would be cool to have another yammy on the official list.

PAPER TEST! PAPER TEST!

Okay,I'm officially denouncing my ican standard edition as an extreme basshead amp. Just tried and failed miserably to do some worthwhile paper tests. The bass just eats so much power that I can barely crank it on high gain before it shuts itself off.

For anyone after extreme bass that reads this, don't get the standard edition unless you're just after modest basshead levels. If you're really after extreme, do yourself a favor and get an idsd or ican special edition.

I'm pretty bassad right now.

2 people buying and owning identical cans,
buying identical gear and matching settings confirmed via video
( many never seen) at a cost of thousands of dollars and countless hours.
You show me where on this site any 2 people have ever done that and shown the results.

LOL at the #2. You are in the wrong thread.
I'm going to ignore you from now on to keep my enjoyment level high. Good luck to you.
