I mean, most of the american electronic stores here carry the typical Beats, Skull Candy, Bose, Monster crap.

Thank god for head-fi.

I think I get your point - lack of choice outside of the same brands in every other electronics store?

I love beats and own Skullcandy and Bose cans - new 2014 head-fi buyers guide features Skullcandy Mix Master Mike and Aviator cans  Bose Quietcomfort15 = worlds best ANC - turns the world on mute :)

Hawaii, I've been using the HM5 pads on my SZ2000s but my ears still contact the inside of the headphones... are the JVC xtreme xplosive pads any thicker and firmer? or Should i go straight for the alpha dog pads?

Sorry, lil off topic, but the appreciation thread hasn't seen any action in a few days.

I use MR77X pads and have no issue - not used Alpha Dog pads personally but just by checking the pics of members who do use these pads on the SZ2000's - they are clearly deeper and more of a safe bet to combat ears contacting the headphones, I'd guess.

But from what I gather - there is a little modding required to get the Alpha Dogs to fit the SZ2000's perfectly - little nip & tuck work required

No ****?

Some folks like the HM5...sorry bout that. The point of new pads is to get the cage off your ears AND transfer bass

Get the set-up me and cb have which is XX pads. They are very firm and transfer bass like a mofo. Isolation? ....noooooo, but sounds like you want the head kick...get the XX. search ebay and grab some 55x for $10

You wanna dance with ear damage...get the XX pads

how do those alpha pads sound?

how much more clamp force?

isolation?

Bass transfer?

They do look pretty sick!

Much better then the stock pads(not saying much there)

They are deep and cushy so they are comfortable.

Good isolation.

Deeper sub bass then the stock pads,  Alpha pads create a vacuum on the ears so they have a nice movement with stronger bass cans. I use them on every closed HP I own(not the W1000x).
