The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Hey, "cannon"
wink.gif
anybody confirm or deny the Klipsch reference one and image one (II) are "bass cannons" or not?

Been reading quite a few reviews that refer to these two cans as cannons...

Only 40mm drivers though makes me suspicious of "cannon" claims

Oh the 40mm cannon.

I think Roger Patterson once got a vid of em

....wait...that was Bigfoot.
My bad

If you see someone talking about cannon and 40mm can you can immediately assume they have never heard a cannon and may claim "who listens to music at that level anyway"?? Which puts their ability to make a claim of "cannon" in doubt. I have had that time wasting debate where it turns from driver ability to who listens to____a t_____ levels anyway? ...oh...I do. 40mm can slam upper bass but lets keep the "cannon" talk down unless proven.

Awesome - looks like you and your friends are having a lot of fun in the sun

Interesting you mention JBL - I've had these 700S Synchros for some time now, and they've 50mm drivers, they don't sound particularly bassy, but worth putting through the bass/paper test I guess - they may/may not respond well.

They are very well built though, virtually all metal

I heard the JBL in the pic you posted as they were airing t.v ads aimed directly at Beats. I was not too impressed since they were almost 300 bucks as well and not too bassy. The ones I heard yesterday were 150 and sounded better....1/2 the cost with better sound and more bass. The price to performance scale in the headphone arena never ceases to amaze me.

These are actually from a pretty obscure brand Ttesports Dracco Signature by Thermaltake.

Bass/Paper test - coming shortly & will be interesting to see how these 50mm's fare up against the AERIAL7 TANK Eclipse and American Audio HP 550's 57mm drivers...

One thing I can say early on about the Dracco Signatures (apart from the gold bling bling styling) is that these puppies come pre-tuned for heavy bass - the test will reveal how much headroom is left to push air

With regards 40mm drivers relevancy here - it's increasingly looking like the minimum entry level to the top 10 is 50mm due to the level of competition that has intensified with new crop of gladiators - schiits got real very quickly and 40mm cans seem to just not have the diameters to compete against the 50mm + elite that are sweeping up the field

I'm stepping up my game. Looking into a Fiio X3 DAP, puts out 560mW at 16ohms. I should get some serious shake with that and my SZ1000'S. If anyone is interested in my iPod/E17 combo, PM me.

ps I'm sure that infamous "Bigfoot" picture taken off an old 1967 video is just a guy in an ape suit on his way to a Halloween party - if you look closer you can see he's holding a pair of 40mm cans - I think he was the DJ or something

Holy **** that is seeeeeeeeexy!!

Bolded part.

Proof of concept/Science.
It should be this way with drivers but nobody has "A' "B"'d enough cans to put that on display. Until you. I hope you get lot's of PM's by grateful bassheads. The diff between 40 and 57mm is 17 but it might as well be 100. it's just another level when it comes to  bass.

Those tanks were impressive. Seen/heard that track 1000's of times and that was moving some low frequency signal with authority.

You guys don't even know what extreme bass is. This guy's got everyone beat by making his own headphone around his body:

Those are HSU Research ULS-15s.Check out the max SPL ratings in a CEA 2010 test:

CEA 2010 measurements are commonly taken at either 1 or 2m, so you get the idea of how much bass could be firing at you there.

So this will do more than beat your head with bass. It'll literally pummel your body. :D

Yeah, something like that.  I'm just drawn to the X3 because of the 540mW output with 10db of bass boost.  There's a guy in my town who's willing to let me give it a try, so I'll see what it's like with the SZ1000's even before I buy my own.
