Hi,

I came across this review http://www.dansdata.com/quickshot022.htm of fairly cheap Senns PC135 USB headphones. The intriguing thing is that the headphones have standard connectors which then plug into an electronic box which in turn connects to the USB port.

It would appear that this "box" could be used with any cans, but I do not know if it will be sold seperately.

This could be handy for me for a quick listen since I have to crawl on the floor to get to the back of my computer to plug cans into the soundcard. Yes, I know I should fix a front panel connection, but I'm too lazy.

I have the behind-the-head version of that rig. Here's my shortie review of mine:

* Yep, the USB output is less noisy and higher-fi than my Dell Inspiron laptop headphone-out.

* Boy, does it need an amp! Both for sound quality and for volume, even with the 'phones it comes with -- which kind of amazes me (especially since it's advertised as a gamer's rig; I expected enough volume for big kabooms)

* With an amp, hey, not bad! Pump the output through a Pimeta and ER-4S's and it's a nice platform for movies and music (haven't tried gaming yet).

* The USB-to-miniplug assembly is bigger than I expected. Not huge, but annoyingly less compact than it could be.

* The behind-the-head headset is less comfortable than others of that type that I've used, and doesn't hug my ears as well.

* When properly driven, the headset doesn't sound bad. I'd put it around PX100/PX200 quality.
