Anyone use balance amp with your DX90? I'm thinking about getting headphonelounge silver cable, but trying to decide if I wanted to go balanced or SE.

I use it exclusively with the SR71-B as all my phones are balanced. With Sig Pro and JH13 the difference is small and not really needed but with HE-500 it makes a meaningful difference

Tempted to slim down my portable setup. Would the DX90 sound better than the i-device + Hp-P1 setup I'm on currently? Or too close to matter? I usually prefer adding to the brick my iQube to squeeze the most out of the setup lol..

Ah good question, I have both the DX90 & HP-P1 but my HP-P1 battery issue really given me a big headache, send back to my distributor and they said to fix it might cost about USD350!!

Eventually I got my DX90 as a present from my brother. By right you do not need DX90 since you have the HP-P1, the HP-P1 SQ is really awesome, very neutral well balance sound from it I must say that the Fostex can really make good DAC, IMO if you need more storage just get an iPod or touch you do not need to get another DX90 unless you wanted to try different kind of DAPs~

Would buying a RSA balanced amp (Lightning F-35) be overkill with DX90? I'm thinking about balancing my SE846, but weighting my options right now.

The difference would likely be very small, at least it is for me with SR71-B and JH13. With HE-500 the difference is much bigger

All my phones are balanced as are both my amps and my home source. The difference is there with all my phones, most with HE-500 and least with JH13 but still worth it for me

Depending on the headphone, I've found the SR71B (F-35's older brother) makes a big difference with the DX90.  However with my JH13's the extra amp doesn't provide much benefit.

Aw darn.. Was hoping the SQ would be a notch up so I'd have an excuse to "upgrade" lol.. Currently using my 128gb iPad Air as storage.. More than sufficient space haha..
