Hello, James -

I am unquestionably a music lover, but I also try to be cognizant of human rights issues and fair labor practices. Here in the West, we regularly hear of the deplorable conditions at facilities such as Foxconn and Pegatron. Where will the X7 be manufactured, and how will Fiio help ensure the fair treatment of those producing it?

Respectfully,
Brian Carr

We have our own factory so we don't need any help from Foxconn or others, and our worker are satisfy with their salary and working time cause we are not making money like Foxconn, it is quite diffrent.

yes, the firmware version. android version needs to be kept up to date, for an android device to work how it should..

You can ask James although I'II bet anything Fiio isn't using version 5 of Android. All they need is a base for their streaming and home grown audio player to work.

We still don't know what the player will look like, correct?

There are some images a few pages back, it most likely be the first of the batch. James has been teasing us with some wild ideas although I'II put my money on the first one.

i really hope the x7 will have a great equalizer as to me I find myself always need to adjust the eq on albums no matter what player I used.

in the fiio x 5 I found the eq not that impressive compared to an eq like in widows jriver pluggins

so I hope something really outstanding will be implemented eq wise

This is what James has posted as the latest (final?) design.

Strictly speaking that's incorrect. You can run a custom version of Android without ever updating the firmware as long as all the component features work well right off the bat and are stable. If things are broken, or need tweak adjustments then of course, you'll need firmware updates to fix them, but remember this ain't phone neither does it require, kitkat or android L. I'm currently using a rig (phone and amp) that has 4.42 Jellybean which to my mind was the most stable release of any Android version...on a phone.

you cannot install custom firmwares on DAPs, as they have very different software configurations. nobody even thought about bothering with trying to re-write a firmware for any android DAP, because the DAC implementation cannot be transferred.

X7 uses lollipop, judging from the pictures.

the thing is that updating firmwares is necessary with android, most of time, and should only be done by the producers.

strating with any EQ app that works with android, and ending probably with viper4android, which is pretty hardcore DSP, everything should work.

I wonder if x7 will be possible to root, or if it will be enoug modified to not need root for anroid music apps, and not allow anything else.

Really like the UI, hope is customizable some how, this type of interface gets old soon (specially if you are a tweaker), something simple like colors, font type/size, theme perhaps? Also gestures compatibility would be nice as said before. Don't know if is possible but can the screen be locked? To avoid unwanted changes while in the pocket, and while locked perhaps a low resolution scrolling info (like my old MD :) this way you don't need to unlock to check song

any serious dap maker should know to please the mass you should provide the tools if they can, and an eq is a must, not a finiky eq like the x5 but a dam good one should be incorporpated
