I love the class A analog amplification in my desktop unit, but it's really not suited for portable use.

Honestly, with the heat production of class A amplification would it not be too hot for portable anyway? Are there any current DAPs that run class A? I imagine the battery life would be around 1 hour with a class A amp.

Geek Wave is class A

  Geek Wave is class A

So buy a Geek Wave.  I'd personally much rather have no heat issues, reasonable battery life, and the ability to have a modular amplification unit that suits my needs.  Geek Wave also makes a lot of questionable claims regarding their gear that immediately had my alarm bells ringing.  Fiio on the other hand has a great track record, and is quite happy to allow their players to do their own talking without having to run down the competition with dubious claims.

Class A means squat in the real world for a portable DAP. What really matter is implementation. So far Fiio has been able to get the implementation of their circuit design pretty spot on. I trust them to do the same with the X7.

I think that x5 II is going to have more sells, for more space for music. A player with less memory alavaible is useless, I fiind myself having a hard time putting my music in x5, i have lots of music...

X5 II?

Yes, X5II. FiiO is just about to release the X3II. James from FiiO has confirmed that a second incarnation of the X5 is in the plans, but is still about a year away. James also indicated that they will be doing new versions of their DAP's approximately 18 months after the initial release of the product.

Considering the much lower cost , increased capacity and significantly reduced size of today's storage media I must admit I don't quite understand this insistence to be able to load ones entire music collection on a DAP all at once. I can understand this being a preference, even a strong preference, but to state that less memory, or more correctly the reduction of the number of media slots, is useless, or a deal breaker seems just a touch overboard today. Micro SD cards have such large capacity available at such low cost today that carrying a couple of them around with you when you are on the go shouldn't present a problem or be much of an inconvenience, they are so small and light.

Thanks neighbour.  I might hold out for the 5 in that case as I prefer the 2 card slots.  Of course, there's that QP1 on the horizon which sounds interesting on paper.  If FiiO has some major improvement ideas, should be worth waiting for.

yeah... why are you trying to protect that selling a product that is not as strong, but is more exensive is a good ideea...

i really hope that x5 II is going to be full touch. it would make a much better transport for hugo...

EDI::: actually, i would like james to answer this , or someone from fiio:
Is x7 going to compete with chord hugo as far as SQ goes?...

I am asking because i am still to buy one of those very expensive things, but i might consider x7 if it is going to compete chord hugo as far as audible SQ goes... I have seem fiio beat very expensive things in the past...
