I am curious to see what kind of reviews the X7 gets....especially against DX90 or DX100...perhaps HM901.  Reading of so many others, I am left with too many have buggy software, etc.  Am hoping this one is super stable and meets all basic requirements...especially the SQ

Don't know about DX100 and HM901, but my DX90 does not seem buggy for me. I've been using DX90 for several months already and have not experienced any crashes or lags...Maybe, I'm that lucky:wink: The only thing that really disappoints me is that DX90 can't start playing the next folder contents after finishing playing the files in the current one. I wonder if it so hard to implement such a basic, but useful feature. Considering the X7 is to have android 5 (which'd better be thoroughly purged of all the useless and irrelevant to audio playback functionality garbage and services) and such a powerful SoC, it just must have such a feature implemented...

Root + Titanium Backup Pro is your friend.

TBP lets you freeze or uninstall any bloatware and other unnecessary system crap (although I'm hopeful James' team will remove most of the Android junk for all of us, so there isn't much house-cleaning left to do, in the stock X7 ROM)

Agreed and it's nice to see that FiiO released a FW with this exact, much requested functionality on the X5. I'm sure it won't be an issue for the X7.

As for useless non-audio functions James just confirmed the X7 will be for audio playback only, no fluff.

Edit: Unless you're referring to core Android issues that I am not aware of. Sorry, I don't use Android...... Not yet.

android is the best platform to start from.

i am working out with x5, most of the times, but i was just saying that there are other options too..

working out seems better with better music, but i am one in few that works out heavy with ultrasone headphones on the head...

the sound quality is the most important aspect of a DAP.

thank you, fiio for not letting users install games... it would only call for a disaster...

Yes, I meant core issues. Though I'm not familiar with Android that much, actually my knowledge of its operation is quite superficial (sadly, as well as of any OS) and I mostly judge about Android's behaviour on my smartphone. From which I infer, that it has a lot of services, that are really not needed for me, but they are runninng in the background and unless one stops them manually or disables their autostart, they will be eating the battery while performing no useful operations. And the future versions of Android (including 5.0), to my mind, are even more littered with such system services...bad luck comes in threes

Generalizations like that are dangerous around these parts lol! But yes, many people are doing so (including me).

But +1 for the offline spotify capability - that's great.

Me too!
Otherwise I'll be forced to go with a cellphone stack.

I hate stacks

so.. you pay to have access to music? and you also need wifi to be able to listen to these services?... without flac options?.. and you are limited to the array of bands that are on that program, without being able to listen to small or independent bands, or something more obscure, like different masterings of the same album? you also don't have the option to modify music, doing personal re-masters..

i think i simply put on paper my feelings towards streaming music. it simply is opposite to how i enjoy my music.

now back to fiio x7, sq and every other stuff combined in one word would be reliability. i want to be able to rely on my device to make my life better, how it can, the best a DAP is able to.
a player is reliable if it has a nice ui, plays gapeless, has enough file formats support, enough battery, it is portable, it is resistant to dust/water if possible, looks nice, feels nice, does not destroy itself if it is dropped on to the ground by mystake [a phone did that to me], can do DAC function as well. this would all mean that i can rely on my DAP on everything a DAP is supposed to do.
i do not need gaming, video, applications, fancy but useless stuff.

i cannot comment on balanced output as it seems that i do not fully understand how that works, and i never had something like that, i do not have any ideea how it sounds.

sorry if i was offtopic or over-sarcastic, i do not intend offense, but i just wanted to point why i am not using yet, the streaming apps.

but x7 will support streaming, thing which is nice, as fiio will win even more buyers, which is important for the job. something something audio is fiios job, and job is good.

it is great if a player can be used for more things, but i buy headphones at over 1000$ which are able to do only music. i am allright to spend huge amounts of money on items that can do specific jobs just at their best.

also, i am still here, because i have a feeling that x7 will sound better than ak240, maybe even chord hugo. at least i hope this!
