Neutron and Fiio music app sound the same to me. I know theoretically it should, but I don't hear it.

But, being in the U.S., it seems they are nowhere to be found. Just now I finally found--and bought on eBay--from a seller in the U.K. what might be one of the last 2 available anywhere. The sale was confirmed by email, but I've got the feeling I'm going to get a notice telling me I missed out on one of those, too.

I use the balanced amp and like the way it sounds and the power output. It works fine with my Focal Utopia.

Good point, @Brooko - yes gapless seems to work perfectly now in Neutron. I do like like Neutron (I have the paid version), but... and I know this is probably sacrilege to say on this thread... but I actually really like the FiiO music app. I like its clean UI and I've come to love the instant volume up/down just by swiping on the right of the screen. (And obviously, it's the only option in Pure Music Mode.) In fact, I'd happily pay for a version of the FiiO music app on my Android phone.
 
So, I agree it's awesome that we can install third party apps like Rocket and Neutron on the X7 (I don't know of any other DAPs that allow you to do this reliably), but I'm still holding out hope that one day we'll get working gapless playback in FiiO's own music app. Come on FiiO - I know you can do it!!!!!!!

it's a high power module, on a pocket-sized 32bit computer, using desktop DAC technology. i believe the 6 hours are accurate. (apparently fw3.0 will be more battery friendly)

Unfortunately, if you drive larger headphones at a louder volume, the battery life really will be around 6 hours. In my testing, even when driving an Etymotic ER4S (100 ohm impedance) at a volume of 38 out of 120, the battery only lasts for about 6.5 hours.

I own a 1 TB. Kingston HyperX Pendrive connected to the Fiio X7 that runs perfectly on FW 2.0 and scans more than 8.500 songs in less than 15 minutes.

Scanning:
On FW 3.0.9 takes about 20 minutes to reach about three quarters(sometimes is 6.600, others is 3.600 because i scan it very times after completely removing the database) and then is very hardly and slowly to FiiO continue scanning. Its scans about 20 o 30 new files every 5 minutes. Then between the last quarter, (its depends sometiemes is 6.600-6.700 others 3.700-3.800 sometimes), never show the circle below the last quarter, shows scanning finished with only 6.600-6.700 some scanning or 3.700-3.800 songs other scannings, instead of the more than 8.500 songs that i own on my pendrive. Total scanning time is about 30-40 minutes.

When its scanning sometimes shows the volume screen as if he had pressed any volume button, but never pressed it.
 
Playing:
Browsing through folders and files I can't play some songs of some folders. When i press the song to play it, it does nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I think this is due to long folders names and long file names. Seems to be that the long of file path that FW 3.0 admit is shorter than FW 2.0. I also think that the shorter long of the file path in FW 3.0 is the problem when scanning.
 
Others:
Swiftkey or any other additional keyboard not run in pure music. Only runs the default Android keyboard.
 
Solved:
- Especial languages characters that shows chinese characters is solved. Now all characters in all languages shows correctly. I have song names in russian and special spanish characters like "Ñ ñ".
- My only DSD album that i can't play on Fiio X7 from about more than 500 DSD albums in my library now plays correctly. I would like to know what the problem was.

1. Do you mean that it takes about 30-40 minutes to scan your 1 TB Kingston HyperX Pendrive? It may not be easy for us to test that, but we would try to find the reason.
2. If you are convenient, please send your long folders names and long file names to us.
3. Yes, the input method seems only to be the default Android keyboard, but maybe you can press the earth icon beside the space key to switch the language to see whether it helps.

The beta firmware can not be updated through OTA since FW3.0.7beta, so please download the firmware package and update manually.
