Given you are in eu, you should look at the lake people amps, eg: http://www.lake-people.de/produktdetails/G109-P.html

I wanted to suggest those, but the prices are higher (although Lake People gear are reputed to sound excellent).

From my understanding the Gustard H10 is "based, on the Violectric V200 design.. of course for much less.

you know. I've actually seen this claim floating around everywhere. would anyone be able to provide a source or point me to where that type of talk started from? just curious :)

They've got the exact same technical specs as the V200, minus the dimensions and weight.

http://violectric-usa.com/download/Violectric%20V200%20Manual.pdf, everything related to its amp function in the technical data section is the same on the Gustard H10: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/GUSTARD-H10-High-current-Discrete-Class-A-output-Stage-Headphone-Amplifier-/261520921654

From an insider source (he asks PR questions related on upcoming designs on behalf of Gustard too): http://www.head-fi.org/t/735828/gustard-h10-high-current-discrete-class-a-output-stage-headphone-amplifier/2085#post_11632825

It was based on designs from the chinese DIY community. Those designs had to have had the exact same functional measurements as the V200.

Besides those measurements, the most obvious difference internally is that the H10 has the benefit of a dual mono design over the V200:

Great info thanks, pity I just got my Violectric v100! Although, the build quality is seriously nice, German manufacturing has a solid reputation for a reason!

That said... the Gustard X12 looks pretty neat.

The next step is going to be figuring out which amp I should get to go with this headphone. Any quick and easy recommendations? I got the feeling quite a few people have paired this with something like Lyr, but I'm really not interested in getting into tube rolling. So I would like to stay solid state, something neutral and transparent and I need pre outs for my Genelecs. Budget is most likely going to be somewhere between 300-400€, but I can save a little bit more as well if it provides noticeable improvement. Has anyone got experience with Asgaard with this headphone for example?

The Gustard H10 is supposed to be excellent with planars. They're on Massdrop right now priced at $299. At that price i don't think there'sany competition for them at all. I personally feel that the Yulong A18 is the best amp for the HE560s.

On the other hand, i would suggest looking at at vintage integrated stereo amps from Marantz or Yamaha and run these cans from the speaker taps. I currently have a modded vintage Yamaha amp which sounds excellent with the HE560s (albeit from the headphone out).

After significant back and forth with Customer Service at HiFiMan they have agreed to honor their one-year warranty on the cable of my HE-560.

   "Hi Eric,

We will provide the one year replacement for your accessories comes with the main items, like player and headphones.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you."

Thanks for the welcomes and responses everyone!

Gustard H10 seems to be getting a lot of love here, unfortunately it doesn't have pre outs for my powered speakers. I would like to have that functionality built in so I'm afraid that makes the H10 a no-go for me. I will do some more research of what kind of equipment folks are using with the 560. I don't have funds for the amp at the moment anyway, so I have the time to do so for sure.

What do you generally think about dac+amp combos? Would you rather go for separate dac and amp? I guess both my amp and dac are a little bit lackluster at the moment and I am most likely going to want to have both of them replaced in the future, so I'm thinking about the general direction I'm going to take. It looks like an all-in-one unit would be a little bit more convenient solution, but I think separate dac and amp would be the route with more flexibility down the line.

IMO a dac amp combo is only worth it if preforms better than competing separate dac and amp or if it is portable (like a cayin) or semi portable (like my hp-a4).

Also you can always buy the dac amp combo first then buy a external amp later and use the combo as dac only. That's my setup and it works pretty well especially since that can unplug my hp-4a and use it portably.

I like separates myself for the flexibility of selling either or if desired. Perhaps there is a small technical advantage, but that would be minimal and of course dependent on the device eg. having room for a better power supply or something of that nature.

I would recommend going with a balanced Wolfson based DAC/AMP from Audio-Gd. Go balanced to the he560 and never look back.
