Sennheiser MX 475, MX 585 opinions?

I just bought the MX585, I was thinking that this new batch the 475 and 585 would be quite similar to the 470/580 series. I have the 581s and also the 470.

I've listened to it for the past hour and I'm kinda dissappointed. I have the 581 (which is the smaller ear verssion of the 580) it sounds very bright and vocals/mid-range was sweet, with just enough bass and harsh treble. The 585 seems to have a bass dominated signature (sort of like 470), mids are not as forward as the 581 and the treble a bit more forward than before without the harshness but only barely. The bass still dominates the overall signature, feels like wearing my Image One's, everything is very upfront.

Materials and build quality are quite similar to the 581 except its pearl White which in my opinon looks worse than the 581s red/gold/black scheme.

Probably needs to burn them in for a while. At the moment I think the 470 and 581 both sounds better than this newest revision. Dissappointed so far.

EDIT: I realized that the earpads I was using with it blocked the vent at the back, used some thinner and smaller pads now make it sounds alot better. But still not as bright as the the 581 and bass still a bit bloated (but more than the 581), treble harshness is also lesser than than 581.

I just bought me a MX 475 to replace my  three year old MX 470 which had some troubles with the plug.

The MX 475 have a very good bass for earbuds and also a good overall frequency response. I think most will like the Mx 475 more than the Mx 470.

I just bought the MX 585, because don't like in-canal earbuds. I wanted them to listen on my iPhone, but the volume is incredibly low even when the iPhone is maxed out. Is this inherent in these newer earbuds? I never had this problem with Apple earbuds back in the day.

My bad; I forgot about the inline volume controller. Unlike most headphones with this type of controller, where it changes the volume on the iPhone, this one is an attenuator.
