Havi B3 Pro-1 Impressions Thread

Your statement -which I underline and make it bold- should be taken in to account for any newcomer.

B3 is a kind of IEM which is capable of growing with the 'ear-matureness' and equipment upgrades.

But it would be good to provide some source and amp matches, especially for those on the budget...

Everything is relative : I have spent last day or so searching for DSD256 "anything" - specially for the recorder.  So far, only Merging Horus seems to be available :
http://www.emerginguk.com/?portfolio=horus
If I *ever* hope to scrape together that kind of money for a recorder, I can not trifle money on amps, etc - can I ?

Here, the old saying about post (prices)  holds more than true: Take care of the ounces, pounds will take care of themselves !

As for the Havi B3 Pro Old Version - on a well done sound of a  recent(ish) movie, they are capable of fooling you of "being there". That realistic. It is impossible to expect a low priced amp to hold candle to the Havi - loud ; maybe yes - real high resolution - most unlikely.

But nothing would please me more than being proven wrong. Except, for the above reason, I can not participate in the hunt for the inexpensive commercially available amp. For those who can solder - please see my previous post(s).

I got my Havi b3 for a week now, because of the praising amongst others you have been given them.

Out of the box, they did not sound good with my Galaxy s2 (voodoo louer) and s4. After some hours they they sounded OK. After a couple of days they sounded better (so burn-in is needed), but nothing like my Beyerdynamic mmx101 (from memory, now they are broken). Therefore I ordered the Topping NX1 as many mentioned they need proper amping to sound good.

So I tried them yesterday through my Iphone 3gs and the Topping NX1 and now they sound fantastic. The soundstage depth and width is huge and the clarity is really good. I cant believe 75 euro's can offer this kind of sound quality.

So who thinks the Havi does not sound good, don't give up, but look for a good source and amp. The Topping NX1 is for me perfect, budget-friendly solution.

This sounds very promising, great initiative!

And: Welcome to head-fi, sorry about your wallet

yes, the B3 and the BH amp are matched beautifully. I'm listening to it with both LF and SF switched off, the sound stage is very very wide and deep.

DO IT waynes world

  36.70 USD (NX1) + 59 USD (B3 Pro1) = 95.7 USD    ....mmm under 100 USD for a complete, portable package

Dat NX1, so cheap.  Cheaper than JDS Labs CMOY. Any specifics on the NX1?  Does it have low gain to do well with IEMs, and not cause hiss?  Also, is the output impedance very low(hopefully close to zero)?

Anyway Baycode, I saw your concert pictures.  It's nice breath of fresh air to see that.  I see you are passionate about sound.

Yes one of my passion is sound...

Do you think it's worth upgrading if I'm having E11 + B3 Pro?

I'm looking forward to Geek Stream.

We need input of @bhazard here. He already have B3's and NX1's. Also Peter123 is going to receive his NX1 in a couple of days. For me it will take about 20-30 days to arrive... I have E11 as well. So for a direct comparison you have to wait for that time...

Keep the impressions going guys :)

I just finished a session with the Geek Out 450 --> B3. You might think it was blissful... yea it was... until I blasted my ears for the 40938523 time ):

Is the problem with the GeekOut  software based? If so, why they don't care about that? It couldn't be hard to solve it with an update?

Can you compare this combo with your other SS and/or tube amps (if you have so)?   (I mean synergy of B3 with other amps compared to GeekOut)

It's software/firmware based, and they're working on it. They're going to open new campaign with Geek Stream with same sq as Geek Out, but it's battery powered (compete with Fiio E18, C5D).

Btw, I'm having good fit with the included S double-flange, the insertion is deep and comfortable. Is this the recommended Senheiser tips?
