Havi B3 Pro-1 Impressions Thread

The S5 has a fair dose more bass and emphasised lower treble, not balanced like Havi. Clarity and detail I'd give a slight nod to S5 but it mostly comes from an upper-mid push and can sound somewhat grainy/harsh depending how loud you listen. For EDM / dubstep S5 is very nice but it's slightly boosted bass can hinder too much with acoustic / country etc. Soundstage and imaging Havi takes the lead.

If there's one thing I could use more of from Havi its detail and clarity, something I find myself raising it's volume levels rather high to try and match the likes of Altone or DN-1000.

Is this comparison based on S5 and B3 connected directly to HO of your source or both amped?  Because straight from your source B3 can sound with less clarity and details, until you amp it to release the beast

Could be just a matter of personal opinion, but with a good amp (even something budget like E11k) S5 sounds veiled in comparison to B3 which really shines.  Also, bass really comes alive in B3 when you amp it up!

Guys, get your torches ready
biggrin.gif
someone just posted an official review for Havi B3 Pro I on head-fi and gave it 1/2 star: http://www.head-fi.org/products/havi-b3-pro-1/reviews/11521 based on a fact that he got a defective model.  I'm not saying anything, but it sounds awfully suspicious that a person who posted this review joined Head-fi 4 years ago and only made a single post in our community, and now wrote an extremely negative review about these great headphones because he got a defective unit.  This is not cool...

Lol just saw it too..
It does appear to be a defective unit that he received..
Doing a review on such is definitely out of line.
Worse he made comments about QC when there is hardly any on this thread save a handful..

I understand that not everyone will be as happy as most people here are of the havis.. But this is absurd.

On a side note: I tried auditioning Sony cans today.. Havis appear to be a boon since the only iem that I felt did as well was the xba-4, though not as flat as the havis and the imaging a tad behind the havis and noticed a slight mid bass bump.
However , it was more comfy and had better isolation dynamics was also better.. But cost a lot more.. I wonder now how much i'll have to shell out to get a clear upgrade..

well ymmv, it was just me uing a few songs and not really an ideal comparo..

The detail and clarity of the B3 is still great for it's price, but I do agree that it can be outmatched by more expensive IEMs. I do find that with certain sources and good amping, it does scale up accordingly as well.

One gripe that many people have with the B3 is its supposedly harsh highs. I see this issue popping up in recent posts. Many months back, after extensive playtime with the B3 (close to 60-70 hours IIRC), I had assumed that burn in was complete, and so when I continued to detect sibilance in certain tracks, I assumed that it was just a normal sonic trait of the B3. Baycode however recommended giving it even more burn in, and soon enough, the harshness did eventually disappear, although I can't remember specifically at which point it did.

Tip rolling also helps,  I mean, we all have different sensitivity to high frequencies, so that plays a role.  But particularly with B3s, I found the best non-fatigue ss for me to come when using their stock hybrid tips with narrower bore opening and longer red stem which does attenuates highs to keep peaks under a better control.

I agree, from a basic source Havi sounds pretty average, that's why I give it full complements from my Studio V unit. The S5 with Colorfly C3 3. Keep in mind Studio V can drive HD600.

Luckily I don't find the highs harsh on Havi, not my pair anyway. Honestly, with likes of Tenore QC issues and more than one occasion having two of the exact same model IEM right beside me I dont doubt at all slight variations between SQ with the same earphone.

Welcome to Havi Family....

There is ton of info from the first page of this thread ....which is very useful ...burn in , tips to use ...etc

You're not kidding about there being a ton of info! Wow, you guys have done an amazing job. I'll do some experimenting and find the best fit, and then I'll post some impressions once I've had a few dozen hours with them.

Its all down to @Baycode....his hard work ..he be Godfather of Havi ...lol

As I always say: "A thread is only meaningful because of friends!"

We are all putting our impressions here, some are just one sentence, some are more... All of them are very valuable (IMO). But the most important thing is: we are trying to reflect the reality.

Thanks @Wokei :

I have posted this on the NX1 thread but wanted to share it here too (because I knew some of us use the Havi B3 Pro1 with an amp):

I have been using NX1 connected to my iPod Touch with velcro's.

But sometimes I needed to attach it to my Sansa Fuze and my S2 so I had to use elastic Hooks (bands) for that reason.

But that hooks clutters the operation, so the search begun...

I have searched every possible link in Aliepress and e-bay for the same quality 3M velcro's that came with the NX1 in 1cm diameter.  I was not willing to pay more than 4 USD...

I found an UK seller which sells the coins at cheap but they were not 3M branded. First, I have ordered them without any hopes...

And I found a cheap Aliexpress seller. But they were selling the 3M velcro coins in 50 pieces/pack. I have emailed them and they reduced the price for 20 pieces. I can also choose between white and black (I have send them a message for black one, there is no drop down menu to choose).

Then I realized that some of you may also need them in a 20 pieces pack for 3 USD and I messaged them if they can prepare a page for 20 pieces (at 3USD).

Seller were very responsive and did it. Now I am sharing it to you.

Edit: You can choose larger diameter coins suitable for your amp up to 2cm.  But you have to send a message to the seller first.

But please keep in mind: I haven't received any of my velcro's yet so I can not comment about their quality. If you want to give a shot, you may try it at your own risk (it's 3 USD finally not a big one). I will inform about the quality after I receiving them.

PS: If you find any other solutions (other than velcro and elastic hooks) please inform.

Take a look at my mini review of attaching E18 to smartphone using Scotch reusable strips: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50763714&postcount=105 - those should work really well!!!

Well PB2 is the "highest model of portable AMP" that I am hearing from a (potential-) B3 user (if there had been any before forgive me).

If it has the ability to drive a planar HP like Hifiman HE-6 why not Havi
wink.gif

If you have opportunity to add a balanced connection jack and try the Havi's in a real balanced form that will be a very great input!

I am very excited to hear your impressions in the future
