Hey guys,
I'm new to the forums and also new to pc audio in general. I have a Asus Maximus VI formula in my pc and an Astro A50 wireless headset. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get the 7.1 surround sound to work. I started looking into buying a different headset for my pc and leaving the astro for my console and I found the sennheiser PC 360 and PC 363D. I couldn't figure out if the 360 offered surround sound or not so if it doesn't id probably want to choose the 363D. But anyway what should I do to have a good headset running 7.1 surround sound? I also don't know much about external DAC's if that would solve my problem or not.
Thanks guys

Forget about the idea of a headphone that does 7.1 surround sound. What most head-fier's look for is a good set of open headphones for use with a soundcard that has good DSP to convert multichannel into 2 channel audio for headphones. Open headphones are preferable to closed headphones because they have a bigger soundstage. Even an inexpensive sound card like the Asus Xonar DG has Dolby Headphone to do that multichannel to 2 channel audio for headphone conversion. Creative sound cards also have their own surround processing that is very good.
