Why would you want to attach a headphone amp to a pre-amp?

That is quite an amp.. What DAC/ cd player do you use? You can't connect a headphone amp beneficially to a pre-amp per se.. Ofc you can through a line-out.

There are some other options, though. For example, there are some headphones that you can connect directly to a speaker amp if that is of interest?

Of course the fixed level output is fine.. Or connecting directly to the cd player should be just as good, whatever is most convenient.. Was just thinking you must have quite a good speaker amp, you might be able to use headphones with.. And it might sound much better than most headphone amps that don't cost an arm and a leg. I use my 2 planar magnetic headphones directly from the speaker taps of my 50 watter. Sounds damn fine.

But I know nothing about your expectations or budget..?

Yes, I can. I would suggest Hifiman HE6 with HE adapter as main choice. Else, I'd also recommend HE-4 and HE-5LE for cheaper alternatives.

Lastly, I'd recommend either vintage Stax offerings with speaker adapter box or perhaps something from the new Stax line-up with a woo wee.

I don't know what you listen to and like in your gear, nor how you'd want to use it, but I think your full tube amp and the HE-6 might compliment each other very well. Best of luck.

The only balanced headphone amp that'll drive the HE-6 and not cost too much would probably be one of audio gd's offerings. There might be other good alternatives at decent prices. You could ask in the HE-6 thread.
It is hard to recommend something when not knowing more about your background, likings and intended use.
For a dedicated setup at around 1000$, I'd recommend HE-500 with Schiit Lyr or an audio gd unit if you are very keen on going balanced. HE-6 with your speaker amp will most likely be in another league.
Stax is a hole different ball game (they are electrostats)

I ended up buying one Sennheiser HD600. Can you help me choosing an excelent dedicated headphones amp to the HD600? Source will be mainly an Oppo BDP95 using balanced output or digital coaxial spdif if you point me a DAC with a headphones amp. USD500 is my target.
