$1000 to spend and no body (locally) to take my money.  That is my dilemma...

I live in tourism destination of the world and while this may have it's perks - in the world of technology it's a dead end.  There is so little available in this area due to the transient population that I would have to take a plane and fly 2000+ km to the nearest audio center with AKG headphones or Z series demos.  I don't have a solution as to how I should best determine what setup to buy without being able to test it out first.

I have been reading over "The Nameless Guide" and MLE's guide as well as previously posting in the new members area for assistance.  I did get some help there from "davidsh" and "Mshenay" but nothing I could confidently put my money on.

My end goal would be to have something like the following:

sound card:  Either PCIE and/or USB (both is fine so I can use one portable) - must be great for positional accuracy and really decent for sound quality.  The Zx has caught my eye with the built in mic and multiple out options but I'd be more than happy to go the ZxR if the increase in quality was viable $$ wise.
headphone:  It needs to be pretty amazing for energetic music and still be pinpoint accurate to snipe someone through a wall.  I used to be amazing at this in CS/CS:S with zalman's 5.1 headphones even though the sound quality was terrible.
AMP/DAC:  I'd like to get something portable for listening to music off a phone or similar.  I really don't know enough about this area to comment on.

I'm not an audiophile by any means.  I'm an enthusiast and just enjoy having nice things that simply work wonderfully.

TL;DR

Make my mind disappear into the music (no set genre but I prefer energetic music)
Make my opponents scream hacker
Portable headphone options
