Hi!

I must admit that I'm a newbie here and would appreciate any input you can provide.

I have an AK 120 and use it with the UE7 and JH 16 IEM.

I'm looking for a portable amp and read good reviews on the Pico Slim and RSA Shadow.
My requirement is that I can use amp with my IPODs as well through line out.

Question -

Does anyone have a similar rig (AK 120 with amp & IEM)?
If so, what amp do you have an why did you make that decision?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks much!

The shadow is tinyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy you sure you want to pair it with the AK120?

I'll recommend the SR71B though if you're really game for a portable amp. I would rather you use it un amped though. Personally did not like the AK120 with amp as compared to AK100 with amp. However, YMMV.

The 71b or the RSA Intruder and you also get a good dac section for anything out to its USB input via computer.

I'm digging up a stale thread - but I have a pair of JH16FP coming and would like a DAP (easy to use - decent UI - so some of the esoteric Chinese DAPs like Studio V3 and such are out) that doesn't need an amp to drive the 16's well. From what I have read, the 16's like an amp, but are pretty efficient as well. I would like to carry a DAP only - I don't have an interest in a stack.

Would the AK120 with it's low output impedance be enough on its own? Is the X5 another whole level of power?

The used AK120 market is ripe now that many are selling to buy AK240's and that unit is not an option currently, so the 120 is attractive on a number of levels - but if it doesn't drive the IEMs like they deserve, I might just add a C5D to my iPod Classic (I know that's a stack, but I have the damned iPod
