I don't think you were harsh at all. Funny pic  I'm not going to argue that these headphones probably do sound more preferable than most $100-150 dj headphones. Sennheiser usually does deliver on sound. I just don't think for strictly Djing purposes sq is all that important and that beat matching is not all that difficult. I also feel that dj's are rough on their headphones and with no tests done like v-moda did, toughness is a question mark imo. At least for me I have a much easier time beating up a $100 phone than a $400 phone.

At least for me as important as sq is so is lightness and portability(mdr-7506), and angled jack(rpdj1200's), adjustable bass boost(k181dj's), comfort (adding dog pads to 7506's) and toughness(crossfade m80's). All of these headphones are significantly cheaper and at least for "djing purposes only" going to be just as effective because I don't feel that beatmatching is all that difficult and the features I mentioned are features that these new sennheiser headphones do not have.   

If sennheiser wanted to call these xb7's and xb8's as sony did with their bassy headphones I would not take the position that I do but they did not do that.  They claim that these are the ultimate dj headphones, and are charging as such ($400), that will give a dj an advantage in the club and I can point out lots of features that these headphones are missing that are found on $100 dj phones.

At least to me I don't think these new headphones will give dj's much of an advantage at all in the club and sadly allot of dj's are just syncing now anyways. Also every mixer I have tried has had their sq focus on the speaker outs not the headphone. just my 2 cents

Out of the 7506, rp1200, 181dj, vmoda, the only one that has any longevity is the 7506. They are in the same league as a dj headphone as the hd25. However, 7506 is WAY more sibilant and uncomfortable. In the overall scope of things, the HD headphone lineup is a luxury. However, isn't almost everything on headfi? For djing purposes a lot of headphones can get the job done fine. Djs are usually a stubborn bunch and will stick with what works. As both a dj and a headphone fanatic, I can say that the hd8 is a true joy to have on my head. Almost every other dj headphone I've used sounds and feels like a toy compared to the hd8s. I honestly cannot see any other headphone being better for djing purposes.

  I'm starting to think the HD6 needs it own thread, since it is designed for a different purpose (Mix / neutrality) than the other two (DJ / increase bass). Especially since the OP made the mistake of calling the HD6 Mix "HD6 DJ." That's very misleading.

Jeez, you need tested phones these days for gigging? Why don't you nitpick v-moda for such marketing crap (imo) also?
 
You have few decend points but mostly like to bash the marketing. That's fine, but pretty pointless to me. I can see "DJs" liking these products both ways anyway, luxury products are luxury products. Beatmatching can be done with $1 buttons so that's not an issue. If the isolation is great, I can see the comfort on these and just keeping them on mixing without monitors.
 
Btw I played a gig recently using the cheap $20 OEM "Fischer Audio FA-004, Brainwavz HM3, Incipio F38, Maxell Retro DJ etc". Worked great even not having folding, adjustable bass, angled connector, comfort not to mention toughness. Granted, they were light. 

 Oh and I played pure vinyl, do I get street credz from you for not syncing?

I dont want be "pig", but now I tried HD6 and compare them with HD25 and HD 26. What to say. Big dissapointment. HD6 external noise isolation is ... weak to middle.
HD25 and 26 isolate more and more.
Sound of HD6 is not bad. Space is narrow. Bass is enough but is a bit not accuracy. The shells are middle size, so my big ears dont fit there. This was big problem with comfort for me. What was perfect is force to head. Well ballanced! They are probably developed for young people. Design is modern and perfect. Sound of HD26 was much better for me. The same comfort was excellent. HD25 has not so good sound and not so good comfort than HD26 at all.
My Result: HD6 are good headphones for DJs but not so good for portaple players. Studio work with HD6 I can not imagine. Sorry.

The shells are middle size, so my big ears dont fit there. This was big problem with comfort for me.

 
A more detailed information about that would be very helpful. Can you measure the inner dimensions of the cans? From what i can see on pictures i guess they are around 60 mm long and 50 mm wide. Can someone confirm that?

I can not make measurement. I am away from dealer studio.
-Yes, for me is HD26 suparaaural more comfy than HD6 circumaural type.
-Yes, for me HD26 is more noise isolating than HD6.
-Yes, for me (and my brother) has HD26 more detailed sound than HD6 (and HD25).
Off topic - I tried headphones NAD HP50 and they are too low and too small for my Ears.
