Hi-just got my DX90 yesterday, having problems. Was able to load sd card with music and put it in the player (drag/drop on the PC). The files are read by the player, but only in the file section, don't register in album/artist sections. Probably need to retag, had similar issues with X3. Mostly rip my own cd's into lossless (ALAC), some hi rez downloads as well. I connected the player to pc via microusb, but computer didn't recognize it, show the internal memory as a drive. This would be useful for more music, even more for upgrading firmware, which I understand needs to be downloaded to the internal memory. Finally, charged it for hours yesterday. played it in the evening, battery ran out after a few minutes. Figured maybe it needed a longer initial charge, plugged in to wall via included charger, had it plugged all day (playing with headphones attached for burning in-figured while plugged in should still charge, works for most players that allow this). Unplugged tonight, same thing, lasted maybe a half hour, maybe less. Something I'm doing wrong? Do I need to return it to Amazon? (hate doing that). Probably some stuff on this previously in this thread, but can't slog through 400 pages, a link would be OK if someone knows it. Thanks. (getting worried this fine sounding player may turn out to be a lemon, just wait for Pono or Geek Wave is a possibility).

Quick qns, do you hear a ticking sound when you power off the dx90? Mine had a similar problem where my set was unable to hold/store any charge so once I unplugged it from the power source it will auto shut down. Had it replaced with ibasso for a new one.

I've been having some of the problems you have...but not the short battery life.  Try a full factory reset...it can't hurt.

Afraid of that...charging overnight, if same tomorrow will have to contact Amazon. Any ideas on the tagging problem?

OR it could be a good DX90 with a bad battery...

[rant] I've bought some hi-res files from HD Tracks and found their tagging was ATROCIOUS!!! [/rant]

Are you using the same mSD card you used in your Fiio DAP with good results (i.e., it successfully built the database)? If so, I don't know what's going on. I have successfully used the same mSD cards in both Fiio X3/X5 and iBasso DX90 and don't see why it shouldn't work for you, too.

Interesting...the only files that tagged correctly on my DX90 WERE the ones from HDTracks. Most of the others are ripped from cd's I own, either directly into JRiver (FLAC), or sometimes into iTunes (ALAC) and imported into JRiver (this way my iDevices and non-iDevices both have the lossless files to read, most players seem to do OK with ALAC these days). I didn't use the card from my X3, only inserted a blank 128 microSD for formatting. I had exactly the same issue on the X3, was hoping it would work better here (never have any problem putting music on iPod Touch I have or Samsung music player, tagging fine on above files).
Been charging overnight again, pull it out in a bit and check if it's behaving properly.

OK, if charge no better after overnight charging, will try factory reset.
I also mentioned that the computer completely didn't see the iBasso when plugged in via microusb. Makes the internal memory unaccessable. Anybody else have the same issue?

Huh. I bought the Rush compilations from HD Tracks, and it seemed like a lot of tags were randomly left off. I ended up having to go through and correct each album one by one. It was a PITA!

If the battery seems to be dying early, I got to say the player pushes lots of bass.  Bass takes lots of power as it moves lots of air, and the amp that does this probably drains lots of power.

DX90 is Beats by Dre DAP.

Bass lovers will love this.  Dubstep, drum and bass, electronic, etc...  It is quick paced.

Could anyone suggest whether I'd hear a noticeable improvement in SQ from the DX90 over the Sony NWZ X1050? I'm using Shure 846 IEM. Mostly Rock.
thanks

Not heard the NWZ before but I am 99.99% sure that DX90 will do your 846 justice, period.

I dare say this without having the NWZ - that just says something bout how good DX90 is for IEMs

I use a Shure IEM and I enjoy the sound signature from the combo

(the price tag between the 2 is quite substantially different too)

To add, I will say that Sonys are not accurate or neutral DAPs.  They have fun sound, but there hasn't been good ones that lasts for long duration.  X1050 was hyped when it came out as being the best, but it hissed, and I'm sure the output impedance was a lot.  I would not use multi-BA like SE846 with a X1050, probably distorts the crossover outputs because of it's high output impedance.  This is why I'm very skeptical of Sony ZX-71.

Funnily enough, my shure535 sounded pretty good with sony. The detail was quite good ,it was airy, fun and the tremble was well extented and sharp.Soundstage, bass and dynamics nowhere to be found though.Flat and 2-d.The ie800 another matter entirely. It sounded worse than a $150 iem.Muddy, congested with no body.I blame the crappy amp.It has better battery though than the 6 and half hours from ibasso

I see you are from Netherlands.

Wouldn't you want to check another European company, say Spiral Ear or Custom Art? Harmony 8 and Harmony 8 Pro from Custom Art seem to be a great ciem. I myself own Spiral Ear SE5way, would suggest it any given time too. Also EarSonics makes quite good products too. EM32 seems to be creating miracles only with 3 drivers, it is a product with long (I think 10 years) R&D history behind it.
