As much as i love the sound i am not hearing more details or more clarity and that is with some of the best universals like sennheiser ie800 and shure se846.

As a 2nd iem to partner the DX90 I have been considering those two (plus the Grado10s). Currently have W40s, would be grateful for your views on the differences through the DX90. I am unamped, are you using those two direct?

Just turned the EQ off on the DX90. Had it set to Custom (all sliders on 0). Seems to have opened up the sound A LOT.

Might still try a coax with a better fit than the original iBasso one. Have been looking at the Forza Audioworks one but weird lengths - 5cm or 30cm?

I bought the Forza Digital Coax interconnect, and selected the 5cm length. Hoping that it arrives some time this week as it shipped back on the 5th. I think a 3cm length would be ideal, but I guess I'll find out when it arrives if there is very much slack left over or not.

Matthew seems like a great guy in his e-mails to me, so I'm sure he'd be willing to consult with you for a length that works for your needs if you already know what you want.

I experience it with hi-res flacs (the only format that I listen to), but not so often. This is not a software bug, but a feature of SD-cards.....

...Anyway, don't expect a fix of this problem from iBasso.

Thanks for reading so far

This is the greatest remaining issue I experience on the DX90.  I see others have described it can be a fade out and in...which I've experienced, but normally on mine it manifests as a sudden cut-out of the music that suddenly returns 2-4 seconds later.  Very annoying....I've sent iBasso details on this some time ago, and they've reported that they have been unable to reproduce it on their units.

I appreciate your possible resolution write-up...however I have reloaded my SD card and reset so many times I can't believe this problem still exists.

Thanks Lurker00 for his work - and iBasso Team for the product :) - I like very much how this L2 version sounds and I needed so much the m3u list option I couldn't go back to 2.1.0

lian00: I am having trouble getting playlists to work. If I create them on PC, from the microSDHC installed on DX90, which is USB connected, where (into what folder / directory) do I then import them from PC to DAP? I've also read in this thread that routing information and direction of the backslashes had to be modified before DX90 could read an externally imported m3u, but even trying that didn't work.

if you have a straightforward, successful way of importing m3u's you can share, it'd be very much appreciated. Thanks!!!

I am using L2, I didn't even know there was an L3 until I looked just now! lol Must be new.

So L3 is the change in fonts. Otherwise I would guess it is the same sound as L2.

Everytime i hear praises for the 2.1.5 and lurkers i am compelled to try them again and again and again..
But every time the 2.1.0 comes on top

to my ears the difference is night and day 2.1.0 has a depth and fluidic presentation that all the other firmware just don't have. I always feel there is something missing in the other firmwares. 2.0.5 was good but it wasn't balanced, 2.1.0 is perfect

I think the type of music we hear makes us love or hate the firmwares. Well i listen to everything and i do not understand 70% of the music I hear From Africans, Spanish to Arabic and i believe the fw which can tackle all the genres is the one to go for..

Today i was working with this song for the comparison

Schoch Va Gado - Yulduz Usmanova (VA- rough guide to music of central asia)

The song could really bring out any flaws if there are any in the fw or if everything is not the way it is supposed to be ,,,  give it a go and let me know if we are on the same page.

Regards
BS

+1

Paired with the Dunu D2000 I prefer 2.1.0 to 2.1.5L2.

bharat2580, andkoppel: it is always good when there is something to choose from! I can tell you even more: there are some people that don't like DX90!

For the moment, I'm just creating the list using the favorites function from DX90. Create a list with DX90 and export it as m3u file, open it with Notepad (or another text program) and you'll see the structure of the list.

/mnt/external_sd/Graham Coxon/A+e/02 - City hall.flac
/mnt/external_sd/Tarwater/Animals, Suns & Atoms/02 - All Of The Ants Left Paris.flac
/mnt/external_sd/Eels/Beautiful Freak/01 - Novocaine For The Soul.flac

So it seems you have to create just a /mnt/external_sd/ line with the file place on your SD card. If you create a m3u file on your computer with another program, you have to look at the structure and modify it to look like this one. You can use Notepad ++ (Windows) to search and replace words for this.

I did not make a test for the moment but I think it will work - Don't forget to scan your directories so DX90 can grab your new m3u file (I suppose it will work too if you browse to the file).

Sorry for my bad english.

I'm new here. I just bought a DX 90. Works fine with the 2.0 fw that came installed. I've tried to upgrade to 2.5, but my music will not show up. I can reload 2.0 and everything works fine. When I go back to 2.5 nothing. Any ideas?

Just got finished experimenting with Lurker 2.1.5 L3, back to 2.1.0, then back to 2.1.5 L3 again... and I find any differences pretty minimal; maybe a tad better space and layering on the new one. But it's so hard to be sure you're hearing anything when you have to take 5-10 min each time with the update steps. I'm sticking with the new one as it's at least as good sonically (I believe), and I like that nifty new balance feature for that odd recording which is slanted a touch to one side too much. You can just tick the balance a little one way or another to even it out. Very cool.

Great work Lurker, as always.

Could you please explain me what is it and how to reporduce it? I never understood its mentions in the DX90 bugs thread.

In the middle of a song the volume fades to silent and then a few seconds later fades back in. If you replay the song it usually don't happen again. I experienced this a few times many months ago and only with aac files, never with flac

this happened to me today for the first time on my first time using 2.1.5L2, multiple times on the same track that played fine previously.. formatting and recopying songs back onto mSD card as suggested by lurker and going to factory reset the dx90.. will see if it happens again
