Is there anything one can do (besides of praying) to increase the chances of Rockbox being ported to DX90? Like donating to the guy/guys who ported Rockbox to DX50 - but here I don't know if he/them are interested in DX90 at all....

I'm fed up with what iBasso does with the sound signature with every FW release, no matter the true reasons behind it. Listening to my JH13fp on 2.1.0 made me go back to Clip Zip yet once again, as I find the sound sig highly unnatural with an ultra aggresive high frequency response. It would be great at least to hear what the HW itself sounds like.

I'm with you 100%.  I even started a thread here:

Seems like there's not much interest at this point.

Incidentally, I asked DOC2008 some time ago.  He told me he did not actually write the DX50 Rockbox port.  It was written by a Russian programmer, and he apparently does not have a DX90.  Most of the Rockbox ports seem to originate with programmers on one  of the Russian hifi forums, so hopefully someone there is working on it...

Evaluating the sound of two Samsung batteries paralleled by soldering them and a couple of spots of supper glue (same physical size as a 4400mA Anker, and the sound is better still. More transparent and room to roam around in. Sounds great with one Samsung just a little improvement with two and since they are the power supple of the DX90, with what I have built in the past, PS is something everything since good circuits are very available but give them a mediocre PS and they will sound that way. The stock battery isn't bad, the Samsung is better, IMO.

And a benefit, twice the run time. :^)

con: I like the black leather case I got for it, which is beautifully made but of course, use the silicon case with the dual Samsung batteries.

Next come some caps in parallel.

Nice to hear things are working out. I guess I better get to it.

lol, For sure it will be better. If replacing caps from a supposed to be TOTL miles better than the rest 2.5K DAP modified by the audio equivalent of a wine connoisseur. Then it should work with DX90 as well.

I haven't followed. Are these dual boot when ported? I'd never opt out of HiDef entirely.

Are you saying 2 batteries connected in parallel sounds better than the standard battery?  I'm confused as to why this could be...  :s

Because with two, you increase available current and reduce the ESR.

What he did was something Jamoto and I already discussed. When you look at the dx90 board, they are already there. It may still be possible to get some minor improvement by adding a moderate value at the battery or bypassing the ones on the board with a something but may be fruitless as well.

Yes, when you boot up you can go to Rockbox or to the iBasso UI. Works well but a hassle if you want to update to a new FW and if you want to get rid of Rockbox.

I suppose that if one's not comfortable with the RK batch tool that would be so. Of course, you'd need to reinstall Rockbox again after every update.

I will try the batch tool. If it can work to get Rockbox off that would be nice. RB is good, and good sounding I just don't like it that there are some things, like updating, that for me, are more difficult.

ibasso.com is being redirected to 'easyCGI.com'. Did they not pay the hosting company?
Can anyone share a dropbox/g-drive link for  V2.1.0?

Didnt really think that a different battery would make a difference but it seems that it does.

Ordered the Japan made S3 battery from Ebay for £9 and have tried it, seems to me to give the sound quality a bit more air, almost opens it up a little.

Pleasantly surprised.
