True in all aspects of life.

Me, I love a good bowl of laksa. One of my best friends can't stand the stuff and much prefers a Canadian version of a donair/gyro - oh and hold the sauce, no veggies thank you, basically bland meat with no undo flavour. Just goes to show it takes all kinds.

Oh ya, it also goes to show how I am right and he is wrong.

Where are you guys setting this?

On mine, under Settings>Advanced>Display I've got a slider which seems to go from 0 up to around 270. Currently mine is set at about 180. Even in a room totally bereft of light I see nothing coming off the screen when turned off.

I don't see any hint of light as well. 7.5 + hours is my mileage for the battery so it's still in the ballpark figure as quoted by iBasso.

Only happens when the slider is set to 0

I'll bet there are people who still like the sound coming out of an iPod classic than any of the audiophile DAPs.

I used to think that the sound out of my Classic was the cat's meow - but I knew somewhere in the back of my mind (the part that wasn't getting pelted with sound) that there had to be something better. I like good volume and no matter how nice a headphone I used, the sound got congested and shouty as I increased the volume. There were whole sections of my music collection that I didn't enjoy listening to because it didn't sound good - some of my faster, louder, raucous rock and roll - (Audioslave, Jane's Addicion, Alice In Chains, Living Color, etc...) just didn't sound good through an iPod - with the DX90 I am able to increase the volume and I have yet to hear distortion that wasn't intended...

So, yes I guess there are those who think this is the way it is...

God,

There are those who listen to iBuds with the volume all the way up - what about those poor devils?

yep "8GB" (7.45GB in reality) but actual usable portion is 5.73GB so Android is taking up 1.72GB

So... I cancelled my O2 amp order and got a Little Dot Mk3

The amp came with
RTC 5654 + the stock
6H6PI
power tubes

Immediately on listening using my DT880 600 ohm (with no burn in time for the amp) I think the amp has improved the sound in all aspects: detail, soundstage, bass quality and quantity..
Hopefully the amp gets better and better from here, but I am quite happy with the sound I am getting so far.

The one thing I was not happy with would be the noise floor - there is a bit more background noise now.
(I also notice that the background noise is highly evident when the DX90 screen is on)

Obviously DT880 600ohm driven with the tube amp is definitely expected more enjoyable than the built in amp of DX90 IMO, but we never know until we pair it up eh?

Next step for me would be to go into CV4010 M8100 Mullards when I get the "upgrade bug" again, eventually.

Loving the music..

By background noise...You mean the DX90 gives off background noise or the amp?

Both ->

DX90 (Screen off) with built in amp VS DX90 (Screen off) with Little Dot mk3  (latter is noisier)

AND

DX90 (Screen off) with Little Dot mk3 VS DX90 (Screen on) with Little Dot mk3 (latter is noisier)

This therefore suggests that both the built in amp, and the screen of dx90 give off noise.
Just that with the DX90 + built in amp, the noise generated by the screen was probably not notable
