Is there any difference between the dac chips ES9018K2M and ES9018 ? Or it's just a newer version of the 9018 ?

See by yourself:

Nothing better than experiencing it yourself.

  Thanks

So ES9018 is the 'best' ... hmm

Yeah maybe by you saw the required on power and it is at least double the ES9018K2M so the chip is a power hungry one, the same that apparently sits in the DX100.

Now if the implementation is done right, this will be like the 8740 wolfson chip in a dual mode, that means it will have a better SNR when paired. So that should also help.

Tough competion coming in the High-End market with the  CALYX M  and the Astell & Kern AK240, booth expected to be announced in & week at the CES :)

The Astell & Kern AK240 !  : In the February 2014 issue of The Absolute Sound there's an ad for the new Astell & Kern AK240.  There's not a lot of info so I'm hoping they'll show it at CES next month and.... that it has a true line-out...

I would not call the AK240 competition, at least at their current insane prices, having the choice to pay less, I'll go for less, the max I am willing to pay for is the Calyx M which is quite substantial but a lot better than the AK120, pretty sure the AK240 will be a lot more expansive.

The AK240 will probably be around the $2000 price tag. At that price I'd better hope there are no impedance issues!

Well I would suppose some will purchase but i will bet that equal sound can be had for much less but who knows.

I will spend my money elsewhere. I think. lol

so how many more AK players will they release next year? iRiver is toying with audiophile DAP sheeps. Can we expect the AK240 Titan coming by March?

Funny how people are jumping on AK's throat when they or iBasso or Calyx haven't released their new models. Just because the pricing is not to your liking doesn't mean they do not have the right to price it the way they do.
If Stax or FAD or others can release a $3k plus headphones/iem I don't see why the DAP makers can't do the same. The end sound is only as good as the source, and I don't find any fault of them for pricing the way they did. In the first place a number of headphones/iems are already grossly overpriced yet people are still jumping in and encouraging newer upgrades with higher prices. No reason why DAP makers can't do the same.

Based on my more than 30 years of experience as human being, each of ther future release will sound better than the previous. The more you pay the more you will find the DAP good sounding.

Oh there'll be makers who will cater to us who are less... fortunate? :)
E.g. FiiO and iBasso.
