Aurisonics ROCKETS: Impressions Thread

Funny how perceptions are different. The bass is about spot on for me.

They aren't sensitive like every other BA is made nowadays and I think that's great. More phones need to be less sensitive in my opinion. At the very least it will give you a much larger range of usuable volume on your source/amp, and makes it more amp friendly. For some reason many see this as a negative but I don't understand why, unless they are using EU capped devices. I use my Rockets with the iPhone 5S most of the time; it powers it just fine.

Ah, you are getting a vacuum seal. Try other tips and try going down a size from what you normally use. You may need to move to foam tips- they'll eliminate the effect. A vacuum deal is seriously annoying. Hope you get that worked out.

I was using the original medium+ tips to start and moved to medium, both had the issue. I will try the small tips for sure. Not sure if the Comply tips i currently have will fit but i can try. I am using a OnePlus One and the volume has to be maxed on quieter recordings, no clue if it's EU limited or not though.

I really do want to like them because compared to the Dunu they are so much smaller and lighter.

just got mine today too. quick impressions:

- they look better than i was expecting in some ways still not a big fan of the little red and blue left/right indicators on the black cable or the red strip on the slider but not deal breakers.
- cable seems really really sturdy and the jack is really beefy (which may be an issue for some with their cell phones and whatnot)
- not a fan of the tri-tabs, immediately took them out... haven't tried the anti-loops yet
- soundwise, i'm still trying to get used to the transition from my tenores to these but based on first impressions: require a little more volume to drive them, bass is slightly less in volume but seems quicker, mids are really good, vocals are rendered very well, treble seems a touch softer? but i feel like instrument timbre is better overall on these than the tenores from the songs i've listened to so far

question for people that have these: i just went with the tips that were on with a deep insertion but is it worth exploring doing the larger tips with a more shallow insertion?

Rockets are my endgame. I usually listen to music on the go. Downloading my 256-320 song files to FLAC lossless (16-bit) and calling it a day. Just need an amp/dac for home use with my laptop.

Are some of u listening to "hi-res" audio (24-bit) with the Rockets? I compared the Led Zeppelin (new 2014) and The Doors remasters to see if hi-res was worth the hard drive space. I listened from my mac itunes/vlc and found that 24-bit audio was clearer in certain areas, but by the thinnest of margins.

Just posted my review on the Rockets. Definitely worth a lot more than their asking price :)

Agreed!!   The Rockets have more than enough bass.

Anyone claiming that the Rockets are lacking in bass are either big time bassheads, or they are accustomed to models with overpowering bass...

...or they are just plain

So, even with the issues I noted above, there's something about these that makes me come back to them over the Dunus. The midrange clarity and clarity and ease with which it reproduces the treble with no harshness at all is just intoxicating. That's to say nothing of the staging, which IMO is second to none. Seriously, if the Comply T-500 Small tips I ordered work well for these they are going to be my IEMs of choice and my Dunus will be up for sale on here.

I didn't hear much extension in the sub-bass and treble region.
Still, Rockets are pretty sweet for what they are, and those who bought the Rockets at Kickstarter prices have scored a good deal

I'm not that surprised some complain of sub bass, the driver is tiny so it likely won't have the authority of an average sized dynamic (like a BA). I'll see when I get my chance at these....

I dont have a problem with bass level, i do like a rumble but I get sick of it soon.

What is incredible about rocket is they really scale up and they do need to be amped. It sounds like a different class IEM when I have it paired with calyx M compared to how it sounds from ipod touch.
