"Water-honed titanium"

This is crazy-licious for a tiny single driver. In just a period of 2 hours listening... Im already convinced that my ety's, se846, asg2 and gro were all floored by this magnificent creation. ( thats just me ofcourse. But these bird-clans made me a believer again

After a week with the Rockets, I'm still having zero success in finding sonic flaws. As correct as I've ever heard. If audio is a game of compromises, the Rockets make fewer than anything out there imo.

However, build-wise, it looks like I'll be getting these rma'ed with Aurisonics through the guy who sold them to me. There is a tiny hole in the clear cable sheath right where the cable enters the barrel. I'm pretty sure it was just a manufacturing defect, since I'm not sure what else could have caused it. The good thing though is that they still seem strong as hell. I'd probably be fine just leaving it as it is, or perhaps adding a very small dab of super glue. But as an uptight audiophile, I think it'd be best to get a flawless pair just in case.

I have the UERM in my ears as we speak. I realize I'll have the rockets soon, but in case I don't have them at the same time (I really want to compare them side by side) can someone with the rockets and UERM compare them in detail for me? I'd like to get an idea of how they compare while I'm hearing the UERM. And then if I don't have the UERM at the same time I'll have a better idea of when to listen for, etc. in my comparisons. Anyone?

You're not getting any expectation bias from me :p

But I need to send mine back actually for a refit. I keep putting it off :(

I realize that is a factor, but i'm pretty good at being aware of those things and trying not to be influenced by them. I'm very analytical and have a pretty well trained ear. But I'm not immune. I just want to hear them as close together as possible. If I end up loving the rockets I might save some money. ;)

Here are some notes from a quick Rockets/UERM comparison for Luisdent:

In find the UERM to more spacious/open sounding with even better layering than the Rockets. The UERM has better dynamics and more precise instrument placement. Overall the UERM comes across as sounding clearer and more resolving of micro detail. The same details are present in the Rockets, just not as easily discernible.

The UERM has more treble emphasis, mainly around 10k but I do not find the full custom as bright as the two demos/uni's I was loaned. The full custom treble is balanced with the rest of the FR. The UERM treble is more articulate but the a Rockets treble has better timbre and weight.

The Rockets lift vocals more front and center, whereas the UERM vocals are slightly more laid back in comparison. Rockets notes are noticeably thicker with slightly more overall bass quantity, so Rockets sound weightier/richer. The Rockets have a little more sub bass presence and rumble. The Rockets raw note edge is also noticeable against the cleaner/sharper note edge of the UERM.

I recommend owning both!

Whenever I get my Rockets (sometime in 2015?), I anticipate similar impressions between it and my UERM.

The UERM and the Rockets dominate all my ear time.

I'll keep the Tenore, RE400b and BA200 but really only for future/ongoing comparison reviews/tours/etc. They are fine iems and offer neutralish sigs and are benchmarks in head-fi history but I'll have all my music enjoyment with the UERM and Rockets. At least until the Cosmic Ears CE6P arrives. :p

After a few days of listening...yep, Rockets > ASG-2(.5). Even in vocals, where I thought the ASG-2 was untouchable.

Only problem is that the Rockets seem to be misbranded. The shells appear to be made of unobtainium instead of titanium.

also, this driver seems to be quick as hell.

I'm not so sure about that first part of the statement. However I also don't listen to my ASG-2s as much because... well... I use a clamshell case that is not easily pocketed with them, and the Rockets leather case fits in my pocket perfectly. So at some point in the near future I'll need to do a complete comparison.

And the driver is extremely quick. They seem to have stuck the perfect balance between dynamic driver... er dynamics and BA speed. I think that is magic at work.

In other news I have paired the Rockets with my newly acquired Clip Zip [rockboxed] (which replaced my lost Clip+), which was my original intent for workout purposes, and all I have to say is... Wow... The little guy has a bit of power behind it. I still haven't tried it amped (my NFB-11 is still boxed up from move and I haven't tried it for any extended length of time with my Arrow 4G... all in good time) It certainly drives them better than my Nexus 5. And they sound fantastic. I shall much enjoy these guys at the gym, and not have to worry about them being destroyed.

Also the tips have fully formed to my ear making them really comfortable, and pretty well isolating. These may be by current favorite tips thus far. Kudos to Aurisonics team.

Agreed. The vocals on the Rockets are absolutely top-tier. Better than any flagship I've heard. Just beautiful tonality. I keep pausing while writing this very comment because of it.

How did Aurisonics pull this off? I need to know more about the tech implemented in this thing.

I know these are not really my sound signature, but I am getting quite interested in these phones I have to say. They'd compliment my little collection nicely as every phone I have is extremely bassy.

Eke? Help me out here bro!! I think for days when I'm in a relaxed mood, perhaps these might be nice.
