Unless there is a decent shot at repairing my A700 due to a cimped cable, I'm in the market for new cans. I really did like my ATH-A700s, but I did feel like they lacked in bass for my taste. Mids and highs were pretty good. I'm looking to spend about $150. I was considering the ATH-A900x that someone has for sale in the classifieds, but I'm not too sure how much more bass it has over the A700. I would prefer to not have to get an amp and rely on my soundcard for games and music. Also, if it helps the A700s fit my head fairly good but not perfect, sometimes If I looked down they would shift a bit.

Currently listening to The Beloved-Sweet Harmony using the ATH-A900Xs, it's nice.
And I'm only using on-board audio (budget 5 year old motherboard).
Not a really boomy bass, but plenty enough for balanced audio.
Get the Hifiman Velour ear pads, usually $10 plus shipping.
