Thanks mate!
The LCD is technically the best headphones I've heard... I'm just not sure yet if it's my favorite signature. I'll post my initial impression in a couple of days coz I usually need time to adjust and get a clearer perspective of the sound.

Be careful not to shell shock your ears with those LCD-2, I found them overly tempting to turn up loud. Because of their performance and driver type (plus size) they simply will not distort which lets higher volumes get away from your threshold without knowing. Both Svyr and myself went down for the count with ear fatigue. And don't forget to try my goth submarine music!

So d marc0, how goes the journey?
So I just got confirmation that Sony Aus wont be getting the XBA-H3, which I had been hoping to get discounted through my Sony X membership, to simultaneously satisfy the audiophile and asian in me...
So now I face a more level playing field of a dilemma - XBA-H3, H300 or DN2000? Pretty keen to get my hands on a hybrid, coming from a TripleFi 10, and all 3 are roughly in the same ballpark cost wise for me:
XBA-H3 - $289 AUD + $22.99 Shipping http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/sony-xba-h3-hybrid-premium-ear-headphones/
H300 - $275 USD http://www.digital852.com/products/t-peos-h-300-dual-balanced-armature-speakers
DN2000 - $315 USD http://www.ebay.com/itm/DUNU-DN-2000-Hybrid-earphone-2BA-1Dynamic-driver-1-year-limited-warranty-NIB-/181388426083?
As you've listened to all 3 now @d marc0, any thoughts? I do like the sound signature on the TF10's (we've had this discussion on the H300 thread I think!) but am open to trying new sigs, my audiophile journey has barely begun after all![]()
And yes, the head-fi solution would probably be to buy them all...
To me...bass king is H-300, hands down...everything else DN2k wins...
H3 lags quite far back compared to the other 2 to be honest...
My apologies for the late reply... been busy with the house build and the reviews I have to finish.
I don't really recommend because I much prefer just expressing how I feel about certain IEMs.
If you really like the TF10 sound... I can imagine you'll like the H3 as an upgrade. Quite similar from upper mids to highs but the H3 sounds more mature/refined. TF10 bass sounds a little bit better and tighter. I do however, find the H3 bass to sound just as good with the tape mod. If I were to own it, will definitely buy another cable as I didn't like the stock ones because they just didn't work well for me.
Here's my comparison in a nut shell:
DN-2000: Has better balance between frequencies, treble extends really well, best mids, clean bass but quantity is close to neutral. --- I EQ the bass a LITTLE bit to sound perfect for me.
SCORE: 9 w/ EQ 8.5 w/o EQ
H-300: Best bass, treble emphasis, excellent clarity, hot treble, not so desirable mids. --- I EQ down (-8db) the lower treble to sound perfect for me. Mids sound so much better this way.
SCORE: 8.5 w/ EQ 7.5 w/o EQ
H3: Treble and extension can rival the DN-2000, upper mids emphasis, not so good mid bass which veils the lower mids, sounds enjoyable despite. --- Tape Mod improves bass response and clears the lower mids a bit.
SCORE: 7.5 w/ tape mod 6.5 w/o tape mod
Hope that helps...
