How is he supposed to fit a top of the line DAC,AMP and a decent battery in an X1?

The X1 is a lower spec. lower r&d, smaller size unit.and cant compete with the output of its bigger and

better specced version. A bigger and better X1 is known as the X3 or X5.

Thank FSM he isnt AK atleast

James: This is disappointing. Why not make X1 as neutral as possible, then let people use bass/treble control if they prefer?

maybe I am wrong, but I think people have different taste about the SQ. for example, some may prefer more bass but some may prefer more treble.

I believe you are right xD there are more people who prefer bassy sound therefore, X1 being bassy is a right decision as everyone can afford it. X5, being top of the line at $400, are more for audiophiles who would prefer something of more neutral and transparent. X3 stands nicely in between it although I heard there will be the X7 coming :D

Put a dedicated hardware bass boost switch on the side (which is pretty old school) and I reckon it will make many people happy.

+1 »»» Neutral is our audiophile's/headfi'ers standards. Whoever want to color the sound its best to have BB and.could even add 2 eqs just like on E6/E11- the hw sw. Plus customize the way we want thru DAP's eq if more fun needed be.

it is exactly because ppl have different taste, therefore dap should sound as flat as it can be. give us good preset and customised eq and everyone will be happy. x1 and x5 differentiating should not be the frequency reaponse curve, but rather factor that is beyond eq, such as detail n clean signal, soundstage, instruments seperation etc.

this works well too

This is important considering it will be 3x the price. Also what's the X7 supposed to bring over the X5 lol?

From what I guess:
X7 will feature touchscreen display, very powerful amp section and best DAC possible, the WM8741? But that's my guess xD

Sansa has its own territory defined and still hard to enter by others (like coby etc) at that price point. May be james would reveal by this year end or so to break enter the sub $50 tag:wink:. Lets hope so.......X7 is a fully touch screen.

Fully touch screen +1!! Heyyyyy why not put the volume and power switch all on a single knob? Push the knob to turn it on/off and make it work like a volume knob as well! If possible make the hold switch on that knob as well xD just to make everything in one thing hehe

Oh Billy, I admire your design concepts. Jk.....Actually it can be a single dial/knob to serve 2 purposes of Power ON/OFF and Vol UP/DOWN just like our E11/E12 has, the analog alps pot. But adding a "hold" functionality is kinda more cost involved for fiio as a digital sw circuitry is involved and so the selling cost may rise a bit.

But we wanted something of high-tec and spec for the X7 IMO but let's leave this thread for X1, which is closer to schedule xD

why don't you just buy X5 ? sorry , we think the SQ should not be the same from enter level to the flagship because different people need different SQ.

I agree with you in every word.
It is fair to differentiate the product range in order to motivate the price difference.
Who doesn't like it - has no economic knowledge.

If all sound neutral, what would be the difference between the entry and flagship xD

Tough luck for me, since I picked up the Aurisonics ASG-1 for the fit even with elevated bass (which is somewhat normal-sounding on the iPad vs my SGS3), and its fit in my ear than the X1's in my pocket. Of course, I wouldn't totally scratch it off my list until I actually listen to it - who knows, it might at least have better treble than my SGS3.
