Hey guys

I narrowed my new headphone choice down to the DT880 250 ohms and the Soundmagic HP200. I ordered both with the intention of sending one pair back.  Now Ive been sitting here listening to both for an hour or so!

Wow its hard to decide.  It seems that every track I try out is better on one or other of the cans, but they seem to be winning an even amount of battles!

It seems that when I put on dance/electronic music the HP200s just sound better and punchier.  The kick drums punch, and the bass is tight, whilst the DT880s just sound thinner and almost less immediate.

When I put on most pop rock folk etc the DT880s seem to do a better job, offering more space and definition!

The Hp200s have a bit of a harsh high end at points depending on the music, but much more so than the DT880s

It really seems to depend on how deep the bass is on the track, as the Hp200s handle the lower stuff better, such as more subby stuff in electronic music.

The Dt880's are definately more comfortable, and just feel softer and more spacious on the ears.  The Hp200s feel closer to the ears, and not having Velour makes them not feel so soft.

The dt880s dont come with a case which I thought they did, and thats a bit of a problem for me as I will be moving around  alot. The big Dt880 coiled cable is annoying too.

Its so hard to decide, I though there would be a clear winner.  But I guess each set lends itself to different music, and as I listen to a lot of different music its hard. But my main intention with these was for producing electronic music so I think the HP200s might have the edge!
