Ahhh, yes the Prestige, now that I know something about.
The Prestige is made from a solid block of medium, wood, acrylic, and combinations of materials such as wood + acrylic, acrylic + aluminum, acrylic + carbon etc etc
The medium block is shaped to match the ear impression, the result is then hollowed out by hand in order to place the drivers. It is a combination of modern technology, incorporating laser 3D scanners and subtractive manufacturing technology. Subtractive manufacturing, to the best of my knowledge has never been done before in the world of CIEMs or hearing aids. Additive technology, (SLA) has been around for two decades. The Viper HA SLA was one of the first machines out there.
The trouble with SLA technology is that they can only print with transparent resins and in limited colors. (Clear, red & blue)
Subtractive technology, allows for all kinds of medium choices, the below photo is an example of wood, fused with acrylic.
The K10 Universal
Now that has been a long time coming. With a lot of effort we found we are able to place the K10 internals into the current Universal IEM shell. In other words the Universal N4 is the same size as the Universal K10.
