Got to listen to katana today and it is so so nice, I believe thr k10 is sub par in thr range... But katana is Gold! Truly is special

There will be others that say the opposite.....   that being said, I really like the form factor of the Katana, the smaller housing etc etc

Do you know the movement in the Oris you are considering?

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Altimeter Mens Watch 733-7705-4134SET

A SW-200-1, which is basically an ETA 2824-2, along with a mechanical pressure gauge.

I'm fortunate enough to have the K10 (custom) as well as the Katana (universal). The K10 has been my trusted companion for 3 years and we've been through a lot together. They are the standard against which all other headphones have been measured and (to my ears) fallen short. But then I got the Katana 2 short months ago...

It was a breath of fresh air. It's still undeniably a Noble, but more refined and with an amazing sense of clarity. No bass boost, but they sure go looooow if the music calls for it! If I had to pick ONE headphone for the rest of my days, I might just go with a custom set of Katanas. I'd miss the low-end thump from the K10, but those Katana mids and highs are very, very addictive. I guess that's why the K10 Encore is underway

I have had the same impressions with the Katana as you. Very clear and with so much realism in the instruments/vocals. They are the perfect example of IEMs you can put in, turn on music, and lose complete track of time because you are completely lost in the enjoyment of the music.

Just sitting back, soaking up the minutiae of a song, and then without hesitation, the bass drops into the mix....   the wow factor isn't the amount of bass...  to me the wow factor is the depth of the bass....

I can't agree more. When I listened to Katana in a Singapore shop, the quality of bass of it really shocked me. I used to believe that K10u have the best bass, but after I listened to Katana, I realize that though K10's quantity of bass is more than Katana's, but Katana's quality of bass definitely defeat k10 one. The bass of Katana feels like directly knock on heart.

My hearing is bad. Did my audition at Stereo Singapore on the Katana, K10U, and I didn't get the same impression? The Rose Gold K10U is very attractive though, but price difference vs standard one could not justify the difference.

Smooth sounding is true. Heart knocking bass? Didn't get that. In fact, I found bass much better from JH sirens series, and of course, Tralucent Ref 1, ASG2.5 and Sony XBA-Z5. Don't think Katana can produce the type of bass that you described.

My reference point was due to my ownership of ASG2.5, Z5, Tralucent Ref 1 before moving nearly to Noble (tried half an hour at Stereo trying out Katana/K10U), but end up going to JH. Not because K10U or Katana is bad, just preference of sound. Plus they have no stocks of the K10U standard version then.

Subjective subjective subjective, the good news, you have something that makes u happy

Yes, it is really subjective, though I am sure I would have been as happy if I have bought the K10U.

Sorry but didn't get the bass or soundstage I was looking for, but it is a smooth sounding IEM. Tested with a few other IEMs in Stereo Singapore that were half the price and sounded not much different. Maybe I had too high expectations after reading all the reviews and hype.

The built quality is good though and certainly feels better built than the few other IEMs I have tested.
