I bought an AK, haven't looked back. Expensive? Yes. But for (C)IEMs, there's nothing better out there. If you already have a Mojo, cool your engines and wait for the SD accessory Chord has underway. Using an AK purely as a transport would be a waste of money.

judging by your certainty, you must have tried all TOTL daps out there ,right ? at least this is the vibe i get by your certainty

if so, you should add them to your dap list , as i only see dx90 and other mid-tier daps....

Well, nothing better I've tried at least. All the others seem to have either nice sound OR a nice UI, so far AK are the only ones where you get both. Glad to see competition heating up in the DAP space though, we need that.

Those ridiculous prices are just not justifiable though. In terms of SQ, they're really not hard to equal/beat (I will exclude the 3** series here, since I've not actually heard those). They also have very strict price controls which is why we never actually see real sales, even though some retailers have tried.

But yes, I am glad there is competition. Even my ZX2 which seemed like a great deal at the time is seeming a bit expensive, with all the new DAPs hitting the market.

Speaking of DAPs has anyone tried or knows someone who has tried the Cowon Plenue D with the Noble 3, 4 or Savant. I've been looking for a new DAP. The Cowon or the Lotoo PAW 5000 are the current top two choices.

My better (MUCH) half just bought a Wizard designed purple Savant, so she will be joining the family shortly.  Don't tell her, but I can wait to use try them! :veryevil:

Those purples are off the charts in the looks category, I think she will like them

I agree on the prices. The AK units are extremely well made, but I'm certain that they charge a hefty markup as well. I got my AK120II for a good price and now I'm rocking a (very) used AK240. This side of a Powerball jackpot I'm not even going to consider the AK380.

I have put down my K10 for some time, being distracted by the Layla and some bassy IEMs for the past year or so. Today I listened to the K10 again. Sublime. Simply sublime. It seems that the AK380 Cu brings out the best not in the Layla - but interestingly, in the K10. In my experience K10 always scales well with AK players - I am not a big fan of AK but it has to be mentioned.

I don't disagree on the build, etc, what I take exception to is the value proposition. Nevermind the markup (everyone does it, to some degree), going to the extent of aggressively policing any dealers offering discounts/sales on their products (even though they've paid the full distributor price to AK) just to maintain an inflated perception of value goes a bit far for my taste. I vote with my cash, hence I don't buy any new DAPs from them. Used for a good price, I might actually consider it, true.

And if I won the Powerball, there's an Orpheus with my name on it

Massdrop boys. Massdrop is your friend on crazy deals. I remember seeing a AK240 for a pretty good price at one point or another. Of course, I had my QP1R so I had no desire for such DAP.

I'm just waiting for Massdrop to get a K10U drop so I can jump on it like a hungry lion hunting a gazelle.
