Sweet but I've never signed up for FB and 15% off of these isn't going to make me start. Oh well. That said, pretty cool of JH to do it.

FWIW, I emailed JH asking how a share on FB could be applied during the checkout process.  The response I got was that you actually need to get a coupon code from FB for the checkout process.  Now I'm not sure if they will send you a bill for the discounted amount after the fact if you never shared that post on FB...

Hi everyone,

It is time that I introduce myself. After all... I have been following this thread from the start:)!

Living in the Netherlands, I am looking for an upgrade for my Shure's SE425.. I know, way lower in the league.
As I am constantly re-putting the Shure's back in my ear, I am really looking forward to the comfort of custom IEMS. Otherwise, I would have settled with the SE846. Those universals just don't want to stay in my ears haha.

While I am pretty new to all of these high-end monitors... the audio 'curse' haha I laughed about that btw, got me good....
I am leaning towards buying the Roxanne's with all the gimmicks like the carbon fiber... I just want to do it right the first time... Otherwise I will buy it anyway after some time and spending more money then needed....

Most of the time, and yes I know it is not the best way, I listen to my music through an Iphone 5s. It is just convenient to have my phone and IEMS with me without other devices. (I am looking for a good amplifier as well... Just think it isn't worth it for my 425's)

I love the mids of the 425's, but I just NEED 'haha' better... Don't ask me why, that is just the case... My girlfriend hates me for it XD.

Thankfully we have a JH audio dealer in Holland which I have already contacted. They are bit more expensive but if I buy them directly... + sending and getting my impressions... It would have been the same...

Before I place the order, I am waiting for a Black Friday special. Hope to get the same discount at my local dealer as I could otherwise save a lot of money by ordering directly:)!

Just to share my story, I am dying for some nice reviews! Hope to see that the Roxanne's are as good as the 13, 16's but with some added bass:).

Hey Jonathan, fwiw I plan on doing the same w/ my 5s.  I held off even trying to drive my TG-334s w/ it thinking that it a decent but not 'great' source, but one day when I was without one of my outboard DACs (Meridian Explorer and HRT Microstreamer) I plugged in and was surprised by what I heard, so much so I had to do some research and found it is indeed a quite capable source - http://www.kenrockwell.com/apple/iphone-5/audio-quality.htm.   I'm curious about the AK120 for instance but I have no immediate desire to get one.

Hmm that sounds positive... Have to dive into that:)!

But indeed... The AK120 looks amazing... but is quite expensive as well... I'd rather spent that money on the carbon option for the Roxanne's at the moment:)! and save the rest that the AK120 costs haha....

My advise is get Roxanne the way you want it. And the iPhones do very well with the tg344 and all the jh IEM,s. Better than most people wood think. I used to use the iPhones only it has a low output imp that is the key..good luck

I am very excited to hear the difference between my Shure's and the JH Roxanne:) I hope it will be substantially! But yes, I will mainly use them on an Iphone or desktop comp (with amp).

For the carbon fiber option - what do you select to get the same flying lady logo on the IEMs as shown in the product photos?  It's not an outline nor black, but a somewhat tasteful/understated silver.  Do you select no artwork?

Hey Jonathan,

I am your exact equal in the US.  I have also been tortured for years with various Shure earphones.  Always thought sound was ok, but they never stayed in my ears (even if I was sitting perfectly still on an airplane).  I luked quietly reading everything on this site, mostly trying to learn.  Amazing knowledge here.

I was in FL three weeks ago.  After a very trying flight, I decided to take the plunge.  Come to find out JH Audio is in Orlando!!  I went to the studio, got fitted and ordered the Roxanne's.  YOU WILL BE BLOWN AWAY!!!

I tried all the models and almost placed my order for the JH 13 Pro, but then Mr Harvey walked in and let me try the "universal" Roxanne model.  All I can say is: OMG!!!  Granted, I am as green as they come and certainly do not have audiophile ears, but the differences in the models were all easy to hear.  The Roxanne takes the outstanding mids of the 13's and warms them.  It takes the great bass of the 16's and smooths the pounding (plus its ajustable).  The Roxanne was just on a totally different planet to me.

I trialed all the music and IEM with my iphone 5.  I thought it sounded just fine.  Plenty of volume, no need for an amp.  After I decided to buy the Roxanne's, I got a chance to use the AK-120.  It does take music to yet another level.  Everything is clearer, crisper, and it seemed like I heard new things.  I did a very quick direct comparison between my iPhone and the AK-120.  Very clearly different.  Would be worth the money in my opinion, but the music is somewhat limited at least for now.  I'm studying this part yet.  Plus I have thousands of songs already and it's very convenient to just use the iPhone I'm already carrying.

Good luck.  I'm confident you will be happy with the Roxanne's.

Jeff,

Great story and indeed... I can find myself in that description!!
I just had contact with an audiologist... Now its just down to waiting for the black friday special... If they aren't included, I'll just order them over here with an authorized dealer... Saves me some money and easier for refitting etc.
Otherwise I will order them directly at JH! But yes, I hope that I will be blown away!! Haha especially if I almost pay 2 grand for IEM's!
Does anyone have some long-term experience with JH IEM's?? How long will they last?

Oh and indeed... My iPhone is loaded with thousands of songs as well... Will be a full time job for a week to find the same if I decide to go for a other device (AK120 etc)

4.5 years with JH13s. They sound and fit as well as the day I got them.

They have saved me a fortune in not buying many headphones since owning them!

I feared losing an IEM a few times. Have since 'glued' my TWAg cables in to be sure I don't cry. Roxanne has an improved 'locking' connector so you should never need the glue!
Like many others, I'm waiting for a carbon black Friday!

Regards

Corbyn at JH told me the Black Friday sale starts tomorrow (Wednesday).

As for the ordering, I did the carbon fiber with the titanium colored flying lady. ( the demo pair had it that way and it looked fantastic). Since the web page isn't really set up to accommodate that, they had me just text it in down in the comment section.

Ok great, so the titanium is an option:)! Do they charge extra for this titanium coloring?? As it isn't a standard option?
Also, the sale is 15% discount? On such an amount, it is a lot of money!
