Indeed, the magnesium alloy housing would be a pretty sweet deal for the build alone. I'm just not a huge fan of the shure-style mmcx connectors, but I'll reserve my judgement on that until they actually begin selling these in the market.

Yeah, not crazy happy that they seem have changed the connector and now have iPod/Phone controls. I want controls on the pin connectors too! I bought my UM2's last Christmas and can't afford to buy this new stuff just to get controls!! Kind of sucks but that's the way the ball bounces sometimes. :(

I wonder about the controls. Didn't the ADV have some problems with the mic and stuff going bad quickly?

I know the original EPIC Mics cable got discontinued because of voice echo (when making calls on a iPhone) but I haven't read much about the ADV controls yet. I'll have to revisit the ADV thread...edit since I took another look at the ADV thread. Eek! Yes, some have reported their controls stop working!

Voice echo in 2pin cables? Highly doubt it considering the mmcx plugs also have only two "pins"

Been waiting on this announcement

This explains all the price drops on the Westone 4 lately.

I'm ready for these. Big fan of W4. I don't like the design of new W series though.

Design looks great, specially if the housing is magnesium, though I doubt it. Mmcx connectors are basically the new standard now, so good choice there by Westone. I suspect the sound won't change much in comparison to their older counterparts, but it's just a guess at this point.

too bad the interchangeable faceplates are not for sound tuning.

Any words comparing the sound of the W4R and W40?

Unless someone is at CEDIA then no one has heard these yet. Westone's Instagram posted a photo of a pair of W20's on display....and the whole line-up.....

Is it just me or has westone completely ditched the braided-cable design on both the w and um-pro series
Which would be a shame, i really liked the feel of the braided cable
