Gosh, I should have unsubbed from this thread. I really liked the Vision Ears VE6 and only the high cost stopped me pulling the trigger on it.  I also really like the guys at Visions Ears (and Rhines Customs).  I'm looking forward to impressions of the VE5, though I'm a bit confused about its sound from the description.  Is it a bass heavy earphone, or for vocal lovers?

Yeah, you should've done it :D
From the description on their page, they emphasize airy treble and powerful high mids for vocals. And VE5's strengths are the precision and crystal clear presentation with great details across the whole frequency range.

That's the description from vision ears, but everything is down to the demo. And actually i'm gonna go for VE6x1, as i'm not sure that VE5 would cut it for stage use

Any special occasion where you can demo them soon in Berlin? I am from Berlin too and the price is really hard to swallow for me but for the perfect ciem I might pay it. Looking for Vision ears for some days now as my local dealer told me they had something new coming in may which I should wait for before demoing and deciding. and they are offering upgrade possibilities for their products which will be costy aswell I guess but a great idea.

I spoke to one of the staff from Vision Ears about the VE5 this afternoon. It is a bright earphone, which was made in response to a need from the industry. The emphasis will be on the highs and vocals, but it won't be completely lacking in bass (just not the focus). It's not quite as detailed or "fast" as the VE6. He was very honest that it's not the best choice for those sensitive to highs.

Hmm, I expected it to have a bass focus based on the announcement

You can demo VE6XC in Hörgeräteakustik Schmutzler at Reichstr. I asked them if they also have VE5, but haven't got response so far.

For me personally, i wouldn't be tempted for this 'upgrade option', if i already know what I need and which sound signature I like, i would go for it and i wouldn't settle for less.

Because of this very reason, i think i wouldn't get VE5 instead of VE6x1. But the final decision would be made of course after the demo.
