Have you heard the non SE yet? Might want to see if you can before hearing the SE.  Only to see if you can tell what the improvments are.

Unfortunately not.

This is on my list along with the Theta Gen VA, Yggdrasil and Hex. Not heard a single one of them (yet) :¬)

Same here.  Talked to Darren about 3 weeks ago, he said look for it sometime in March.  Which means maybe April - we know how that goes..  In the mean time, I got my eyes on two others.

The Metrum Pavane and the Schiit Yggdrasil

Aqua Audio LaScala MKII is a beast. I had it for reviewing purposes for a couple of weeks, and it is incredible sounding brick. Even with stock tubes. I don't think that Yggdrasil is propper rival to DP-777 or SE version. Different topology all the way. Yet, for AMR brick LaScala MKII is the correct rival in my book. And LAmpizat0r. I have Level7 with WE101D-L replicas and, personally, that's the best sound I've heard thus far from a DAC. Period.

Is there a link to your review?

Just been reading about the Lamp Big7 and various tubes. Gear lust followed, but it's out of my budget.

Scala II or 777SE are my pushed budget choices atm. Feeling less and less inclined towards the Yggy atm.

I had a Lampi G4 L4 in house for a few weeks along with the AMR and a few others Master 7 and PWD mk2.  The Lampi was the less resolving of the bunch.  It was also with most forgiving, it had a greyish background and the bass was not as tight as the PWD2 or the AMR.. In fact to my ears the AMR beat the L4 G4 in all areas more bite up top mids was on par with each other the LAmpi had some hum where the AMR was dead silent.

The L7 is getting up there in price where I would look at other DACs in that price range.  IMO DAC should be compared by price range who cares about different topology, there DACs they do D to A conversion.  I'm trying to stay under the 5K mark....

Why is that?  You have the Ragnarok already - The Yggy would be a perfect match - right?

The Rag was a loaner unit (need to update sig), I had every intention of buying it, but on further analysis the jump from the Conductor to the Rag wasn't as large as I'd anticipated (with the Abyss). I'm also wanting more of an analogue/musical sound, and the 777 / Scala are touted as such performers (while resolving detail).

I will wait for the Yggy of course, but I've since jumped off the (exceptional) hype train and will wait for various reviews/thoughts.
