Sometimes i feel like my DN 1000 sounds better than my DT 880 with the same amp/dac...lol. Just my personal preference maybe..or im just too used to the sound of IEMs

Slept on a conference room floor last night thanks to this winter gridlock in Birmingham. DN1000s and Clip+ made it a little more enjoyable.

totally different signature mate, depends on how you want/like it.
 
W4 as far as I know has a rather neutral/reference type signature, whereas DN-1000 is balance with a slight U shaped sound, and much more fun
 
I have not heard W4 personally, H20Fidelity had W4R, and currently has DN-1000, so he would be the perfect person to address your query

There is no comparison. Buy the H3... It's bigger and more detailed in everything. My opinion.

Tell me please which DAP do you use for Sony H3 ? I've been listening to Sony XBA H3 today on Ipod Touch and Colorlfy C4 Pro and both daps brought me quite uncomfortable bright (aggressive) treble, a generally U-shaped signature and not good enough timber accuracy.. Hell, even Ultimate Ears tripleFi10 brought me better timber accuracy and less treble fatigue... But soundstage size and instrument separation H3 offers, no contest, huge winner, hats down... Even so, I could not fill confortable with such a bright, aggressive signature Sony had... May be there was a synergy issue ? 

I had listened to Sennheiser IE80, UE TripleFi10, Westone 3 and now Sony H3… From all those earphones, in my opinion, TripleFi shared the best life-like presentation from my Ipod's headout.
